- Reviewed in the United States on June 19, 2019We bought this as a Christmas gift for our 8 year old grandson who is fascinated with science. He needed our help to assemble some of it just because of reading the directions. It's reasonably durable with care. Parts are hard plastic and parts are thin cardboard but those parts are more for making the projects work better and the hard plastic parts will hold up for many more uses so I was satisfied. The magnets are large and of good quality and the way the experiments are set up leaves room for a child's imagination to think of other ways to make magnets work for us. The experiments can be done over and over again so it's not just a one shot deal for each experiment which I was very happy about because my grandson can continue to learn from it over and over again. Well worth the money.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2018Four stars is for the parts not fitting smoothly and the plastics quality could be better. Otherwise, this is an excellent gift for young minds. Bought it for my grand daughter who is 5. She now knows the word ‘Magnet’ and its properties of “pulling” (attraction) and “pushing” (repulsion). She’ll learn the science behind magnets much later in life (no hurry), but she now knows “magnets” like she knows “cars” or “aeroplanes”. The biggest ‘plus point’ is that the magnets are large and of the right strength for kids.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2024Great value, my 2 and 7 year olds both got a few hours out of it
- Reviewed in the United States on February 26, 2015Neat idea. Not well executed. Pieces are cheap and when put together, it doesn't work all that well. Kids lose interest pretty quickly because you have to do tedious work for one model which only entertains them for ... a minute.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2024Gift for great grandson’s birthday. He really enjoys it. He is 3.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2013I sat down and put all the various experiments together myself to see how it worked. I found it straight forward and quite fun even for an adult. You do have to follow the directions carefully. Once I understood it I showed my students one way to do it and gave them the correct pieces. Then a couple days later I showed them a second experiment and put the pieces to both in the science center. Rinse and repeat until they had all the pieces. I would not just give it to a child and expect them to do it on their own. Some adult help is useful. (I have second graders.)
- Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2024Was unable to get magnets on hexagonal rod to proper location.
String projects hard to manipulate.
Fragile piece broke.
Tiny printing on instructions.
