I am Josh. Kristen mentioned me often in the book because it has been my joy and honor to walk beside her as her husband and best friend for most of our lives. Yes I am without a doubt a bit biased about this book because it is about our life but readers trust me this book makes Jesus the hero of the story. Kristen tells the very raw and vulnerable story of our lives and we have had many failures but we have never let those failures define our future. Please read this book and find yourself in it but don't stay there, make a step towards the person God wants you to be. Meditate on the Scriptures and talk through what the Lord is impressing on your heart and step out in faith to the incredible life God wants for you. For all the haters out there please speak the truth in gentleness and respect because this is Kristen's first of many books and your words will help her grow and become a better writer if it is done in love. Kristen you have always been my favorite and I am so proud of you and I know this story is going to bless many. Thank you for having the courage and fortitude to make it a reality.

We all need to be reminded the word of God is alive, relevant and powerful. Kristen writes her story in such a way that there is no doubt God’s hand is at work orchestrating every detail and His word is her anchor. We can all see ourselves in her story and learn from her faithfulness, mistakes and surrendered heart as she’s walked through life’s ups and downs hand in hand with her Savior. The consistent thread that runs through each page always leads back to Jesus.... the very best part of any good story ❤️

I personally know this amazing woman of God and I have always admired her transparency, heart for the Lord and love for others. She’s a wife, a mom to 7 kids, messenger of the gospel and daughter of the King...She’s the real deal and I think every woman out there can relate to her story in some way.

You’ll see from her picture on the back of the book that she’s beautiful in every sense of the word, but her true inner beauty is the overflow of the Holy Spirit within her and how she daily chooses to surrender her own will to HIS .... wherever that may take her.

I wish you all could know her personally but by the time you finish this book you’ll feel like you’ve been friends for years. The best part is how she continually points the reader to Jesus and testifies of His faithfulness in every detail of her life. Maybe you will see His hand in parts of your life you’ve never thought to look.

If you don’t know Jesus, you will want to and if you do know Him, you’ll want to know Him more.

So...sit down with a cup of coffee and get to know Kristen’s beautiful, redemptive story that God continues to write. Share this book and her story and in the process don’t forget your own story... it’s just waiting to be shared.

If you meet Kristen in person, you cannot help but be drawn to her. God has given her an irresistible personality. She has poured so much of herself into this book that it is also irresistible. Until now, I have not read a single book in it’s entirety since my last child was born, which was almost 4 years ago, but this time I could not stop.

There are so many things I love about this book. Let me share a few so you will understand why this is a must read.

The authenticity and vulnerability of what Kristen writes is obvious. She holds nothing back. She shares her most personal thoughts and deepest emotions. The ones most people try to keep to themselves. She shares not only the happy moments but also the sad ones. She shares the right choices and the wrong choices. As I read along, I could identify with each chapter, and I laughed and cried with her. In a world of fake news, who doesn’t want something to read that is real!

I love how each chapter addresses a different aspect or area of surrendering, yet there is an overall story that builds throughout the book. The way it builds makes you want to read the next chapter as soon as you finish the one before.

Throughout the book, Kristen incorporates verses from the Bible to encourage and remind readers of God’s truth, the only truth. If you don’t know Kristen, you may think the verses were added to the book for “effect”, but I can assure you that is just how Kristen speaks and writes. Her speech is always full of Bible verses and she applies them in her everyday life. God’s word is powerful and just another element that will draw you to this book.

After returning unexpectedly from the mission field, we found ourselves hurting and searching for answers. Surrendering was a book that I enjoyed reading during my own time of searching. Could I surrender the job I loved doing overseas for where God might be leading us? Was my trust to surrender okay with staying in Texas if that was the Lord’s will? As my heart wrestled to surrender to following the Lord, even if it meant following Him around Texas, Kristen’s book was a timely reminder to open my hands to a good God and let Him take us on a journey wherever it might be. We like getting comfortable, even if it’s overseas. Making sure we are entering self reflecting moments of surrendering is necessary at any point on our Christian journey and this book helps you reflect on just that.
