Editorial Reviews

Review

'This book provides Scriptural and experienced based truths that help children understand what they can be certain of about heaven. Chapters focus on topics like whether we have souls, will there be pets in heaven, and will there be rewards in heaven. When read alongside an adult who can wonder alongside the reader and help them answer further questions, these chapters can be wonderful tools to help them deepen their understanding of heaven. Each chapter has a section at the end that is entitled 'cross examination'. These questions can be used as discussions with trusted mentors or as points for further research. There's a tidy resource list at the end of the book, along with a collection of Scripture passages that discuss heaven...If readers walk away with one tidbit to help guide their wonderings, it should be from the story of Zayden in chapter 6. This twelve-year-old decides to ask many trusted people about heaven and comes away with the decision that he should focus on what he does know as factual. Yes, we will always have questions and wonderings. These should be tools that help spur us further into research. But the presence of questions does not negate what is true. This book can be a good tool for adults to use with children as they wrestle with questions about their faith. Providing space for wondering, ways to find information, and the knowledge of what is true go long ways to building on a person's spiritual development.' -- Practical Resources for Churches

I wanted to go through this book with my almost 8 year old (2nd grade), but we started it and the chapters were too long and concepts/terms just a little too advanced. He probably needs another year or two at least. I kept reading it on my own and it’s really interesting. I like that all the references (articles, books, etc) are in the back in case you want to find out more about something touched on in the chapters. The author does a good job breaking down the questions posed in each section into clear and simple concepts with focus and biblical backing. The ‘cross examination’ questions at the end of the chapters aren’t too difficult and do a good job summing things up and encouraging reflection. It’s a good, thought-provoking book for a child that is interested in the topic.

An excellent informational read with areas I could dive into and research for my own knowledge and satisfaction. I think anyone would love to read this book and it reaches our youth with factual information. I use it to guide my youth group as they discover God and God's plan for everyone.

    My Review:

I love books like these. These type of apologetic type books help us to better understand the scripture and just overall apply it better. Kids need their own type of book like this, in words they can understand and apply, as well.

Young readers aged 8-12 have a book now for them written in words they can understand that explain some pretty tough questions for parents or elders to answer. This helps them sort out these "God" questions and in turn to further understand the Gospel.

Questions such as, "Is Hell for Real?", "Who will be in Heaven", and "Why should I believe in Heaven?". These and so many more are answered in the text. There are 14 different chapters that go a little more in depth and ask many other questions that a child may ponder.

This is a great text for further Bible study.

Amazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
I was interested to get this book as I have younger people from our household who are always dealing with friends with questions.

    WHAT TYPE OF BINDING?
I want to point out that this is a hard cover binding which makes it more robust.

    LAYOUT
This book is VERY well laid out. It has each chapter based around a very important question many people have asked. In the chapters, these questions are answered in a very straightforward manner, but with an earthy honesty. This book is done in an earnest way that does not make me feel like someone is trying to sell me something.

    TONE
The tone of this book is a conversational tone. This book is presented in logical manner which allows you to read it sequentially. However, it also is presented so that you can find the question you are interested in reading about and then explore only that. I find that doing so leads me to want to read other chapters too.

    COMPREHENSION LEVEL
This book is a young readers edition. I want to say that I know many adults who would enjoy reading this. I know that I did. My husband also found it interesting and intriguing. This would be good for middle school and above depending on the student's comprehension level in reading.

    READ ALOUD
This would also make a great book to read aloud in home school, church school, youth groups, or even as family or friends who want to explore the topics in the book.

    THE BOTTOM LINE
This book is WAY better than I expected. Although it is aimed at younger readers, it is very good to reach adults as well. Book size and binding make it pretty durable to pass around too.

    MY RATING
FIVE STARS I really like this book. I would feel comfortable giving this to someone who did not want to feel like someone was pushing them or trying to sell them a church membership or something like that.
