About the author
“I promise I will leave no stone unturned in my pursuit of truth.”
When former skeptic and seventeen-year-old Ravi Zacharias heard the words of Jesus in John 14:19, “Because I live, you also will live,” the trajectory of his life changed forever. In a time of helplessness and unbelief—when he was on a bed of suicide—the truth of Scripture brought hope to Zacharias, and he committed his life to Christ, promising, “I will leave no stone unturned in my pursuit of truth.” Earlier in John 14, Jesus says, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.” This verse has become the cornerstone of Zacharias’s ultimate mission as a Christian apologist and evangelist: to present and defend the truth of Jesus Christ that others may find life in Him.
At age 71 he remains committed to his calling to represent the gospel of Jesus Christ through historical, philosophical, and moral foundations and to defend it against objectors with grace, clarity, and coherency. He has laid the framework of the truth of the gospel to millions of people in more than 70 countries, including on the campuses of some of the world’s most prestigious universities.
As Zacharias began speaking at churches and conferences and participating in open forums on university campuses worldwide, he noticed a significant need for ministry in the area of Christian apologetics—both in leading nonbelievers to Christ as well as in training and equipping Christian leaders to effectively share the gospel. This need led Zacharias to found Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM) in 1984, headquartered in Toronto, Canada, until relocating to Atlanta in 1985, to reach and challenge those who shape culture with the credibility of the gospel of Jesus Christ. In 2017, his vision to establish an apologetics training center in the United States with global reach was realized with the launch of the Zacharias Institute in Atlanta.
RZIM has fifteen offices throughout the world in the United States, Canada, Peru, Kenya, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Austria, Spain, Romania, Macedonia, Turkey, Singapore, Hong Kong, India, and the Middle East. Through its global team of speakers and more than 200 employees worldwide, RZIM seeks to impact the heart and intellect of society’s thinkers and influencers through:
Evangelism: RZIM shares the gospel through its global team of over 80 speakers and experts as well as its radio and television programs, podcasts, and publications that reach listeners and readers around the world.
Apologetics: A team of evangelists and trained RZIM speakers participate in open forums, speaking engagements, panels, and debates to answer objections to Christianity with gentleness and respect.
Spiritual Disciplines: RZIM strives to model and build Christ-like character through our books, group studies, and biblical resources.
Training: RZIM hosts a range of programs and courses in the US, UK, India, Singapore, and online, which are designed to instruct and equip all who desire to effectively contend for the Christian worldview.
Humanitarian Support: RZIM’s humanitarian arm, Wellspring International, identifies and financially equips existing organizations aiding women and children at risk and provides individual scholarships to support education, healthcare, and basic living needs.
Zacharias has spent the past 45 years commending the Christian faith and addressing life’s great existential questions of origin, meaning, morality, and destiny with eloquence and grace. He fully believes the truth of Jesus Christ can endure the toughest critiques and philosophical attacks. He has authored or edited over 25 books in the fields of theology, apologetics, comparative religion, and philosophy. Zacharias and his wife, Margie, have been married for 45 years and have three grown children. They reside in Atlanta.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2019If I had to recommend one book to either a believer or a skeptic on the topic of God, this would be it. Dr.Zacharias does a masterful job of tactfully unpacking the realities of God and His very real and logically sound existence, as well as putting an end to myths and misunderstandings that many intellectual cynics have used to dismiss God as nothing more than another Tooth Fairy or Santa Claus. Only the hardest of scoffers could possibly read this very eloquent and thought provoking argument and not at the very least consent to the possibility.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2017What can I say about Ravi that has not already been said by some of the greatest minds in the Christian faith. Here in this audio book is the original lectures Ravi gave at two universities. He gives well reasoned answers to life's most challenging question "Can ma live without God". His lectures are more valuable and in need to be heard today more than ever before. The times are changing fast all around us as our morals fail in every sense of the word "fail". There is no longer a restraining arm on scientist who are even now engineering human/pig fetuses. Knowledge without God becomes a very cruel weapon for humanity...but the gospel of Jesus is a very real solution as it has been for every generation in the past. The Gospel is the last but not the least of Ravi's powerful lectures. You must listen to this audio version in addition to buying the book because the book does not contain some of his discussions during his lectures. You will enjoy both the book and the audio book, I have and I bought extra copies to give away.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 13, 2015I love to read R. Zacharias, but this book was one his the BEST. It asks the hard questions and then presents the answers in a fashion that are thought provoking without being over bearing. Ravi Zacharias has presented the facts about GOD, and Christianity that after reading you will be compelled to research and if thinking in a normal state of mind will come to the conclusion man can not live with out GOD. Please read and make Christ your savior.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2018I have enjoyed other Zacharias writings and have found this to be one of the deepest. Perhaps it is because of my lack of formal higher education or that my thesaurus is not as complete as Dr. Z's but this took me a long time to read. There is so much good information that it should be on your need-to-read list if you wish a broad yet focused look at Christian based philosophy.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 29, 2018Loved the first edition when it came out in the 90's. Brother Ravi has not skipped a beat in keeping it relevant to the times in which we live. With the rise of the new atheism after 9/11 to the present day, this book presents a cogent response to the question, can man live without God?
- Reviewed in the United States on July 18, 2014this book by Ravi Z. is a compelling look at the human condition as it relates to our natural inclination to reach out spiritually to the creator. I would encourage readers to not "skim" through this book, you will miss too much. personally I had to read it in spurts with highlighter in hand, and approached "Can man live without God" more like a college text book than a novel meant for entertainment. I plan on re-reading it again in a couple of weeks. Highly recommended even if you are not religious, as it forces you to open up and examine your assumptions. Can man live without God? sure you can! but your life and the quality of your interactions and relationships with others on this blue marble will be greatly enhanced by embracing the precepts expounded in this book. peace!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2018This book is a must read for those who may question God's existence or His relevance. It is also a must read for those who are firmly convinced that God exists and relevant but feel overwhelmed and unable to articulate "the why they believe" into meaningful conversation. Ravi goes beyond "I think, I believe, I feel God exists or "I think, I believe, I think, I feel" God doesn't exist. He sets up rules for debate so that one doesn't circle and never come to a conclusion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweeping Review of Ravi's Talks
I recently (2 years now) became an avid listener of Ravi Zacharias podcasts. Listening to him has brought laughter, and tears, and much thought, and most certainly a deeper understanding of Christ. This book is like a review of so many of his talks. The stories, and ideas are presented here as a whole, weaving them together in a logical order supporting the core concept as one would expect from Ravi.
This is a great book for a Ravi fan like me, or for a person exploring why God.
As always the discussions are logical, with vivid life experiences, solid theology, and carried toward supporting the thesis of the book - we cannot live without God.

5.0 out of 5 stars basic truths
This book lays out a lot of basic truths that Ravi employs in many of his messages. It is important to read this book as a basis to understand his manner of thinking. Excellent read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant exposition by a Christian who really knows his philosophy
A brilliant exposition by a Christian who really knows his philosophy. A must for those who are interested in Christian apologetics. In the appendix the author gives brief but incisive critiques of several philosophers from Hume and Locke though to Russell. I needed to read some of this book twice, but it was well worth the effort.

5.0 out of 5 stars I have always been following Ravi in all his sermons ...
I have always been following Ravi in all his sermons and books. All I can say is that God's really using him to minister to me in many aspects of life and faith-in-Jesus-based perspective in life. Praise God for this man.
