Simply The Best Wood Repair Product
The entire line of wood epox and wood repair products from this company are the best in the business. I’ve repaired numerous door frames that looked like they needed to be replaced. Years later WoodEpox has held up with zero signs of new water damage. The ease of use and the ability to mold and shape the product with plenty of time is a game changer. A professional would be able to make great use of this but even a novice can repair rotted wood with Abatron products. Before ripping out a door frame I always recommend using this product. When a plane crashes someone always says, “well why not make the plane out of a black box?”, and in this case I’ll say why not make the entire door frame out of WoodEpox. It’s just that good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Holes filled, finer wood details recreated and repaired
Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2023
I have used plenty of wood epoxy on my house, but Abatron Wood Epoxy is my favorite. The mix is not wet and sticky like other epoxy products - you can mix it with your hands - but use gloves. The working time allows you plenty of time to shape the epoxy and the sanding is easy. I've used the product to fill holes in window frames, fix porch columns and I've successfully used it to patch more ornate gingerbread and trim areas of my house - the end job blends perfectly with original. Good stuff. If you have a big job to do the price could be a little steep - but Abatron works great.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best at Wood Replacement
Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2019
I have been using Abatron WoodEpox for almost 30 years now. Yes they have been around for quite awhile. It is invaluable in keeping your historic home historic and the same as it was. It can also save you a ton of money by simply restoring a small section of rotted or missing wood around door jambs or window sills rather than replacing the entire window at a huge cost's which is not an option with old historic homes like my Victorian. I just recently restored my gingerbread porch and again Abatron's products were to the rescue and saved me many hassle's in bringing the old wood carvings back to life. It is an amazing product that everyone who lives in an aging home should have in their toolbox.

As an add on to this comment I would like to stress to first time users of this product to buy the kit that contains both the liquid epoxy and the wood epoxy as both truly are needed for fine smoothing of the product when applying with a putty knife. You can use just the wood compound by itself and most times for large gaps in wood it will hold and work great but the liquid part of this stuff is the magic which gets real tacky or sticky and bonds both the original wood and the newly added Abatron wood compound for a super permanent bond. I always add enough of the liquid to the wood compound to make it more runny like a stiff pancake batter. This will allow you to force the stuff into small cracks and moderate gaps easily. Much larger missing wood gaps I use stiffer mixes of liquid to compound ratio's and if it's really large then I insert 2 x 4's etc and compound to fill and replace entire missing sections of wood. Look folks this product like any is not 100 percent perfect but it's as close as it gets. Is it going to be as good as an unrotted board....of course not but it will replace and repair missing sections and give load bearing stability no matter what some folks say. As I said I have used this product on an 1836 Greek Revival and now an 1860's Victorian and nothing out there competes with it...;)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product- works very well
Reviewed in Canada on June 20, 2021
I had some very serious problems with wood rot on the outside of the upper level on my garage. I removed the first outer layer of completely rotten wood and I was left with large area's behind the removed area's which still had significant rot. Like a dentist I removed all the decay with a Dremel tool from the second layer until all that was left was intact wood. It was not pretty but the Abatron WoodEpox Wood Replacement Compound was exactly the product for this job. I treated the now exposed open area's of the second layer with a liquid wood hardener first and then mixed this product and filled the large open area's to the size and shape of the original wood lumber. I then replaced the first layer with new pressure treated lumber over the epoxied area's. There were some open gaps where I removed some rot on the out layer which this produce was very effective. When dried it was supper easy to sand and shape and it accepted screws just like new wood. What I though could have been a re-build situation is now a great repair because of this product. Just have to get out to stain the repairs now.

When I purchased the product I was surprised how light the box was. When I opened it there were two separate plastic containers and I thought they had dried up because I was expecting a heavy moist product. These were very light. This product has the consistency of bread dough. I took a handful from each container and put it on a piece of plywood. One is bright white and the other is beige. With rubber gloves I just mixed the two together in my hands like kneeding bread dough until the entire mixture was all beige. Then I just started filling the holes with my fingers and thumbs and packing the mixture into the holes. I used blocks of wood to press the epoxy into the shape of the dimensional lumber this it was replacing. Everything you see in the pictures took two orders or 4 quarts.

This is a great product and I will be purchasing it again. Worth every penny and more for me.
