Since our truck usually has a camper on it, we took the tail gate off...but needed some way to secure things in the bed when we use it for hauling. I was apprehensive because multiple reviews stated that the "mesh" part was only 48".
It is not, at least in the full sized one we ordered. It was almost too big, which would have been sad, since it is really nice and sturdy. But upon closer examination, the mesh part "slides" on the straps, so we were able to schrunch it up just a bit, and the hooks fit perfectly, and the mesh covers the majority of the tail gate space, and it snugs up tight. It's length will expand greatly, so it will be useful to secure over the top of a load too! Well worth the price.
