The Brazen Serpent: Chaos and Order Hardcover – April 4, 2022
Purchase options and add-ons
Hardcover with dust jacket
The theme of the book is an exploration of the myth of the Brazen Serpent as a cipher for the "Divine Code" concealed within everything about us. From William S. Burroughs to Teilhard de Chardin, the book explores its theme through the paths of numerology, geometry, and allegory, among others. Using the image of the Brazen Serpent which Moses created and placed among the Hebrews wandering in the desert to protect them from the attacks of the serpents, the author considers the symbol of the serpent in its widest sense, not only from the notion of the Brazen Serpent but also from the point of the view of the Kabbalah, tracing the use of this potent symbol into more recent esoteric Orders.
The book comes with extensive tables including a selected bibliography; and index of persons, places, and subjects.

About the author
M.R. Osborne is a writer and public speaker known for his work on Christian mysticism, esotericism, and philosophical alchemy.
He has published books and articles on esoteric subjects including Rosicrucianism, early Masonic organisation and occult symbolism. A member of the Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia (SRIA) and Director of Studies at Pythagoras College No.26, he edits the College Pamphlet Plus Quam Silentium. In 2018 he won the prestigious Order of the Companions of Christian Rosenkreutz (CCR) Award for a series of papers on The Lessons of Lyons of the Élus Coëns. He has written for the SRIA's Metropolitan Study Group, and Watkins Mind, Body and Spirit Magazine.
He is best known for his scholarly introductions to Rose Circle's four-volume series of early Martinezist manuscripts. His research focus has centred on the composition of the original Élus Coëns as a Catholic mystical fraternity. He contends that the goal of the Order in attempting the reinstitution of the theurgy of the Temple kōhānīm was doctrinally consistent with the Catholic Christian faith to which its members subscribed.
He regularly features in online podcasts and interviews, where he introduces his books and discusses the esoteric in general. A selection of the author's blogs are on available to read on Academia.
The author first encountered Martinism and Rosicrucianism on a personal journey of Christian spirituality. In them, he discovered a fascinating philosophy of early science and theology maintained by hidden organisations almost entirely unknown to mainstream society. The author aims to shed new light on these topics by writing on Rosicrucianism, Martinezism, and related research areas—for both newcomers and seasoned experts alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars “The Reconciliation of Man and Nature with God”
The Brazen Serpent - Chaos and Order by M.R. Osborne, starts as an exploration of the myth of the Brazen Serpent and takes the reader on a esoteric journey through hidden Wisdom, the Divine code and the Number 23 enigma, of which the author is well versed. Those seeking Wisdom should read as this finds Osborne in inspired form.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-read for any interested in the esoteric and mysticism!
A dazzling and highly original unveiling of a divine code, hidden in the Biblical story of the Brazen Serpent (well "hidden" in plenty of myth, symbols, and teachings but this story is the way in) pointing to the truth of God and humans. Comprehensive and exhaustive but highly readable and under 200 pages I truly believe this book will be go down as a new esoteric classic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended
There are some editing issues, but the print quality, size and length of the book are good, and it is well illustrated. The thought processes of the author as he glides through serpent mythology (plus a whole bunch of other concepts) are simply GLORIOUS! And all in under 190 pages. So 5 stars. I highly recommend this book.
