Highly entertaining and educational collection of short stories from combat pilots in Vietnam
In Combat Contrails, Vietnam, Bill Scott weaves together eighteen first-hand accounts of harrowing experiences in Vietnam from over fifty years ago. This is an important work in recording these heroes' stories and insights. I was particularly intrigued by the rescue crews who went in time and again under heavy fire, risking their lives to rescue downed pilots and save them from years of torture in the Hanoi Hilton. During my time flying on and off aircraft carriers, it was always comforting to know that those folks were standing by. A great read that you will not regret picking up and will have a hard time putting down.

Several short stories about the real war time experiences of young aviators during the American war in Vietnam. Each pilot's story is so unique, but the common theme of bravery and selflessness convey, while some will shock you and others have you laughing out loud.

This was a good collection of short stories, with some good photos thrown in. Some were definitely more compelling than others and at time it felt like they had just been stapled together without much unifying them. Overall though a pretty good read.

I just saw this on closing a purchase. I guess I am story #2. Not fair to comment on something you are in. A story though that has been hidden from you. But many do not know what life was really like at the office in combat. It can be rude. I would say, walk in the shoes for a moment of those who were there. Say "thank you for your service" to those who served. Which means you know what the job took. What being an American truly means.
