- Reviewed in the United States on September 22, 2024My dog has immensely sensitive feet, I've worked very hard with him on cooperative care to get him to the point where I could trim even one nail at a time, but other clippers tend to catch, snag, or need a ton of pressure to clip, and it freaks him out again.
These don't do that, they're basically silent, they cut through his (very strong, very sensitive) nails like butter, this is the first time in the time I've had him that I've been able to finish every single nail on even one paw in one session, and he let me do BOTH of his front paws all at once. They're very sharp!
These clippers literally saved me from having to have my poor pup sedated to have his nails done for health reasons, which was going to be the next step if these didn't work. Thank you so much Miller's Forge!
The handles are super comfortable too, I have smaller hands and a lot of cilppers are bulky and unwieldy, these are simple, clean, to the point, and do their job perfectly with no extra frills.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2024I’ve worked around animals my entire life. I’ve tried a lot of clippers and methods for distraction to make clippers work.. these clippers cut clean and fast. That’s the most important factor in trimming nails and training dogs to sit for this. Most clippers have a hesitation or “pinch” during clipping. These do not. It may not advertise for fancy features, but it works much better than any clippers that do. Dogs don’t need a light for finding the quick or catch guard, they simply want a quick and good experience when clipping nails.
Great product and price! This is quality company that knows animals!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 4, 2024I absolutely love these nail clippers. They are sharp out of the package. A great clip Everytime. Easy to use. The latch will move but it's easy to hold out of the way while clipping nails.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2024Very nice, sliced through my Jack Russell's nails like a knife through soft butter. The little stop tab is loose however I don't use that anyway so it isn't a problem for me and, although there isn't any way to tighten it, it is easily held in place by a finger on the same hand you're using to grip the handles if you do use it. One item of note is the rubber handles do keep sliding off and that is annoying but not enough to make me want to try a different brand.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2024The only thing I recommend is gluing the red handles on as they like to slide down the more you trim nails. Having been a dog groomer 3 going on 4 years I have always struggles to find a pair of nail clippers I like. My coworker let me borrow one of hers and I fell in love. They are sharp, accurate, and comfortable. They work on all dogs large and small. I have even used them on Great Danes and Great Pyrenees. If the nail is ingrown to the pad as we all know happens sometimes these won't work but it's typically better to send them to the vet anyway for that.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 1, 2022First I got an inexpensive clipper, because this the Millers Forge had such mixed reviews *and cost double. The cheap one said great for cats only, and I don't have a dog so I thought it would work.
Clipping is new to me because she always scratched her claws down her whole life, so the occasional trip to the vet was all the clippings she needed. But then she got really old. And I don't know how much time passed before I noticed it, but I found this one enormous velociraptor claw on one of her back paws. I felt so bad for missing it! (But she's also a biter, so that was another reason...).
Back to the cheap clipper for cat nails. Splintering, shredding, high squeezing force to get it through the nail. My little hands didnt have enough force to get all the way through, so I basically just mangled it and terrized her in the process. So you guessed correctly, I was only given one chance to give her that negative experience. She's done with the cheap ones forever.
Enter the Millers. I let a few weeks go by in hopes that her geriatric memory would fail her. Then I finally cajoled her with treats and held her to me and *swiftly grabbed her back leg and went for the Bad News. It worked! Fast, smooth, and painless. No splintering or forcing it through The Claw.
I want to address some points from other negative reviews:
They are clearly designed to be operated with one hand only. The lock mechanism is designed to swing down and away by gravity when the right hand squeezes the clippers and gives it a little flick of the wrist. It swings back into place afterword when you tip your hand the other direction while squeezing and let gravity toss it back into the lock position.
The nail guard works the same way. While you are reaching around with your clipper hand, place the guard side toward your face and use your thumb to move it on or off the nail site. Once again, one handed operation. Reverse hands if you are left handed. Your wrist flick will just go in the other direction.
If you are holding the clippers with the wrong side facing you, it will feel like you have to use both hands to manipulate both the lock and the guard. It's going to be very frustrating and you'll probably lose your window of opportunity. Try it at a few different angles until you can pop both of those on and off seamlessly with a flick of your wrist, THEN grab the cat lol.
The only negative I want to mention is that I have child-sized hands, and it's uncomfortable for me to squeeze that size of flat handle edges for very many nails. It still works out, because she escapes at about the moment my hand starts to hurt. But if your cat is docile and lets you, ye with tiny hands might consider a more comfortable grip.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2024Absolutely perfect ! I have used it every nail clipper on my dog to no avail... He absolutely hates his nails touched in any form... He is also very stubborn .. these clippers are very easy to use , they slice cleanly, smoothly, and make very little noise , which is what startles my dog. I am relieved because I really would prefer to do all his grooming myself.. The price is definitely worth the product.. I will be purchasing a back up pair in case they somehow disappear in the Amazon abyss or my home. Recommended!!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 30, 2024Very high quality steel, which means they hold their sharp edge and cut through even very large dogs nails easily. I like that the handles are a flat steel covered with a rubber coating - it is still comfortable to use, but less bulky.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best clippers I have ever used
My dog has thick, black nails and is very sensitive to nail trims. I have tried all kinds, and these are by and far the BEST I have used. I held off because of the odd shape and small size but a groomer lent me hers to try and I was hooked. These do not pinch the nail at all and are great for angle cutting and shaving down and shaping the nail. My dog was noticeably more comfortable with these clippers. Only thing that sometimes annoys me is the guard, but that’s just personal preference!
