    I love this whole universe by Gena Showalter, I love how she writes great paranormal romances with so much humor and such interesting storylines. I will never ever get tired of her writing.

    The Phantom is the third book in her Rise of the Warlords series, it’s also part of her Lords of the Underworld universe, and it mainly features the harpies and the Astra Planeta, god-like warriors who have invaded Harpina and need to complete a task in 30 days in order to ascend into superior beings and destroy their enemy: Erebus.

    This time around we get to read all about Blythe, Taliyah’s half-sister, and Roux, the Astra who killed Blythe’s consort at the very beginning of the series.

    Intense much? YEP!

    Boy, oh boy, this book was so chaotic in the best possible way, so much fun, and genuinely heartbreaking at times.

    I loved that the story took place in Ation, a prison realm where immortal females of all species are locked up. It was a nice change, and I loved reading about all these different species.

    Roux has intrigued me from the start, you don’t really know what’s going on with him, and I really enjoyed discovering more about him and his past. He’s quite a complex character.

    I wasn’t too sure about Blythe when I first started this book, I didn’t know how she would come back from having lost her consort and from all that hatred she had in her because of it, but as always Gena managed to surprise me, and made me fall in love with the harphantom.

    I think she did an amazing job crafting this story, from Roux’s past, to how Blythe is able to have two consorts, their relationship, and the entire storyline.

    Speaking of, this book is a strong enemies to lovers, obviously. Blythe truly hates him and only wants to kill him and make him miserable. As she should. Roux is…more complex than that. He has conflicting emotions and has a hard time dealing with them.

    I could say more but I really don’t want to spoil anything for anyone. There are some really great twists in this book. I will say, the sexual tension between them was top-notch and made me lose my mind more than once.

    This third book in the series is about Roux Pyroesis and Blythe, Taliyah’s half sister. The Astras invade Harpina and Roux sleighs Labon, Blythe’s consort. She vows vengeance on Roux for killing her love. Roux has been elected to complete a task in order to defeat their enemy, Erebus. He must enter the world of Ation and cut out the heart of their Queen. Blythe follows him into this realm in order to avenge her lovers death. As Blythe contemplates her mission to kill Roux, they start to grow an attachment. I love how Gena Showalter writes these two characters. Roux is smitten with Blythe and Blythe does everything in her power to make his life a living hell. But, Blythe finally sees how Roux cares for her through his actions to protect her. Can Blythe forgive him for killing her consort? Can Roux accomplish his quest without losing Blythe? The ending was awesome. Another great book by Gena.

    I don't know how many times my heart felt like it stopped beating while reading this book. There were just too many dangerous situations to overcome.

    I love the way the Harpies can make you laugh in the middle of an intense scene. Blythe was no different. She was funny and confident even while hating Roux.

    I'm always left with a sense of loss at the end of one of Gena's books because I'm sad the story is over but I look forward to what's next.

    This book was everything! I loved it so much. I wasn’t sure how it would work out considering that Blythe wanted revenge on Roux for killing her consort. But they ended up having more in common with each other than she would have originally thought. The struggle between wanting to keep each other at a distance and cuddling close was a theme throughout the novel. And though the tension was high the characters managed to stay away from each other for most of the book. Which worked out because the storyline was on point. Though the book was a bit bloodier than previous ones it all worked with the story that was being told. I can’t wait to see which Astra is up next and who that heroine will be!

    I absolutely loved the journey this book took me one, from beginning to end. I couldn't wait to see how G.S. was going to have blithe completely forgive and fall in love with Roux. It seemed so impossible. But so did so many other obstacles in this book. Each one they overcame. I could feel the gate Blithe had for Roux and it was 100% justified. But damn if I didn't fall in love right along with her. Definitely much sooner than her. G.S. is a genius! I was guessing everything under the sun and still she surprised me with how things worked out! If anyone has a problem with her falling in love with her "first" consort's murder or can't get past it, then you have a real problem with not only forgiveness but with moving on. Not to mention a lack of intelligence considering HOW everything went down and was explained in the end. Even if there hadn't been an explanation it would have still been acceptable. Thank you G.S. for another fantastic and phenomenal story. I cannot wait for Rathbone's story cuz OMG have I been waiting. Hopefully there will be a book in the near future for another king of the underworld and his captive in the mirror!
