- Reviewed in the United States on January 8, 2012This book has it all - Intrigue, action, adventure and a smokin' hot love story between Nick Seven and Felicia Hagens. This is Kindle release of this book, there is also paperback release from 2002. Once you start reading, you will not want to put it down. The author keeps the tension going and the reader involved in the story. Just when you think you've got it all figured out...the plot takes on a new and even more dangerous twist. This is book is the first in the Nick Seven series, I can hardly wait till they release the other two books, "Never Trust your Dreams" and "The Vendetta Factor" in a Kindle edition.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2011Memories Die Last by Tim Smith
Memories Die Last written by Tim Smith satisfies a readers appetite for mystery, danger, blackmail, murder and lasting experiences. I was looking for an adventurous, romantic, energetic read and discovered Memories Die Last. The title is so appropriate; Memories Die Last did just for me.
Mr. Smith's book Memories Die Last is an intelligent, well written suspenseful and romantic read.
His settings for this adventure takes place predominately in two scenic places: the Florida Keys and the island of Barbados. Both regions are visually spectacular and stimulating to all five senses.
Barbados and the Keys are in close proximity sharing crystal clear water and heavenly beaches and easily accessible.
Nick Seven and Felicia Hagens are the main characters who share many past professional experiences. Both served in the U.S. Military for several years and then moved into the intelligence/ security arena.
He and Felicia worked together many years ago on several dangerous missions on the government assignments and became great partners and friends.
Felicia Hagens, from the island of Barbados with its picturesque views of the Caribbean. The island is Felicia's birthplace and where she spent eighteen years before courageously leaving home to broaden her horizons, career and life style. She moves to America, becomes a citizen and serves in the military. Felicia is a voluptuous, physically fit, strong woman. Felicia has mysterious dark brown eyes, semi-sweet chocolate flawless complexion. She is more than capable of protecting herself , anyone else and skillful, awesome person to have covering your back when events warrant it. She can bring a man twice her size to his knees in pain or pleasure. Felicia is quite the chameleon when necessary to achieve results to resolve conflicts on a mission.
Nick is a young, retired U.S. Intelligence Officer. Nick leaves the government shortly after his wife is killed. Nick is still a highly respected, extremely skillful operative and sought after by the government agencies for highly classified missions. Nick is a handsome Caucasian man, trimmed and sporting an eight pack with broad shoulders. Nick has a gorgeous tan with spell-binding eyes that makes him delicious eye candy for 42 years of age. No over 40 age spread taking place here.
Since retiring Nick has been living in the Keys and owns a classy entertainment spot called Cricket frequented by the rich and famous and wanna-be rich and not so famous when they dock lustrous yachts and boats in the rear.
Mr. Smith does a fantastic job building the exciting action packed plot and the conflicts between Nick , the agency, various secondary characters which gives the story balance. Felicia is persuaded into a joint venture with her old friend Nick on an old assignment Nick believed was settled several years ago. There are many mysterious, dangerous events that take the two characters to Europe, California, Washington, DC and beyond to get to the bottom of deceptions.
Mr. Smith engulfs you with several life threatening, unpredictable events that have you scratching your head along with Nick. Mr. Smith use of U.S. government information agencies in manufacturing the story Memories Die Last so electrifying.
As I read Memories Die Last I grew to appreciate masterful manner in which Mr. Smith creates a drama with sexy, suspenseful, enthralling novel. I found the down to earth feel the characters and the settings realistic especially since I have visited both places. The realism of the dialogue between the heads of the agencies, Nick, Felicia and the secondary characters often surprise you. If you have ever watched James Bond or Mission Impossible movies you will identify with the dynamics between the head of the agencies and the special ops officers entrusted with secrets and accomplishing the designated mission.
The spark shared by Felicia and Nick has lasted for years. The intimacies Felicia and Nick share are powerful and takes your breath away. Felicia understands Nick's pain and brings him calmness that makes him relax and release some of his pent up energies due to the lost of his dear wife.
One of the things I enjoyed most about Memories Dies Last is how Mr. Smith describes the events that intertwine with the past and and present therefore fabricating blindsiding turn of events. Mr. Smith integrates steamy romantic interludes while having his characters uncovering multiple puzzling events. Mr. Smith's writing techniques allows him to seamlessly take you on the adventurous missions from the past to present time. I also got caught up in the tenderness and heartwarming interactions among Felicia and Nick.
Memories Die Last has a tender and adventurous perspective that took me deep into the action and transported me to the beautiful places that your eyes would have the pleasure to behold with the sun rises and sunsets of the Keys and Barbados.
I enjoyed being wrapped up in the story that I would love to see this made into a movie. There is plenty of intrigue, life threatening action and mystery that will captivate old Bond 007 and Mission Impossible fans. Memories Die Last appeals to the adult audience of both genders. It contains the adventure dangerous aspect that pulls and hold men attention and the sexiness and heartwarming feel that women enjoy. As a movie it would have couples holding hands and appreciating each other.
Thanks Mr. Smith for taking me on an exhilarating ride with memories I appreciate.
