Wrong. I turned the camera on, and then connected to its built-in WiFi network with my phone. When you launch the app, the app crashes immediately if your phone is connected to the camera's WiFi. The phone will only stay connected to the camera's WiFi for about 60 seconds. Then it reverts back to my home network. If you launch the app then, it doesn't crash, but then it can't connect to the camera, either, of course.
I called GSM at the tech support number given. Sat on hold for 30 minutes and was transferred to another help line. Sat on hold there for 30 minutes to be told that was the wrong line and I needed to call the number I called to start with. They transferred me back and I sat on hold there for another 20 minutes. Total time on the phone was an hour and twenty minutes with only about 5 minutes actually talking to a person trying to solve the problem.
Finally talked to a person and all they could tell me is that they have not updated their app. I asked, "Ever?" and she said she didn't know. I said, "Well, right now this product does not work. According to Amazon review, it has not worked for 2 years. When should I expect a fix?" She said, "I don't know, maybe a couple of weeks." Given how long it has been broken, I'm skeptical it will be fixed in "a couple of weeks".
So, this product is completely non-functional out of the box. I tried it with both Apple and Android devices.
It's a darn shame, because for the price point this is exactly the product I am looking for to enable seeing through my spotting scope without having to get up and look through it.
I will be returning it. I'm very disappointed.
I have one of the universal cell phone mounting devices. This device is superior in nearly every way. The weight of the phone doesn't rotate the eyepiece if you want landscape video. Attaching the device is easier. I don't have to remove my phone case to use it. I can put the spotting scope 10 feet away and keep it away from the back blast from the compensator. The list goes on.
There are some things I would improve, mostly in the app. I would love if the same app as their downrange camera would work with this device. I would like the ability to stop & play back a video with one touch. The videos are stored in some subfolder of my phone that I haven't discovered. A "share to YouTube" option would be nice (I had to share to Google Photos, download, edit, and then upload for this review). But honestly, these are improvements rather than complaints.
