    Bought this Hario scale because all the pro baristas on YouTube seem to use it. Kind of expensive for what it is in my honest opinion. Also the one Hario item I have that was made in China, which I couldn't tell from the product description.Scale appears to be sensitive to batteries and voltage. Scale would not turn on when the original alkalines hit 1.35 volts (semi weak batteries) and seemed to have issues with the weight decreasing when pouring. More expensive Energizer Ultimate Lithium AAAs seem to have solved most of the issues. Every now and then the weight decreases (albeit less frequently with the lithiums), but pushing down on the base of the pourer to add some weight temporarily seems to recalibrate the scale back to where it should be. Scale then holds the weight accurately as it should.

    I purchased this scale in January, 2016 to make pour-over coffee and I love it. It's light-weight and easy to use. In 2018, I started selling on eBay and also used the scale to weigh packages (the smaller ones). Granted, I had to convert grams to ounces so after about 6 months I bought a scale specifically for eBay. All of this to say, the scale is tougher than it looks. Other reviewers mention that it does not like to get wet and that is true. I also purchased the Hario Acrylic Stand with Drip Tray so it almost eliminates the possibility of water getting on the scale when you're pouring as well as providing a protected place to store the scale, dripper, and glass carafe. I would buy this product again because it makes the pour-over coffee process easier and more exact, has a small footprint on the counter, and is durable.
    2023 UPDATE: It is now December 2023, and after (almost) 8 years, I still use and LOVE this scale. I use it mostly to weigh my coffee beans and water for my cold brew and pour-over coffee. I don’t have a single complaint about this scale!

    This scale is a perfect fit for the Hario V60 Drip Station. It slides in and is a great base for the station. The scale turns on/off and zeros instantly and the timer is great. My only complaint and reason for 4/5 stars is the lack of backlight. This can hamper readability depending on time of day and lighting. This likely keeps battery life high, but I am still a new owner and can not speak to that.
