Anyway, the splices were a significant annoyance in that process, because the roll has to be soaked for a day or so in Ethanol (I use denatured because it's cheaper than pure ethanol) and then the glue scraped off.
I did not use this edge banding as intended, so I can't comment on how well the glue might or might not work; what I *can* say is that I found it to be very strange in that it didn't become at all flexible after soaking - it did become easier to remove from the paper backing between the glue strip and the veneer, but rather than coming up in a ribbon, it broke off, like peanut brittle, and took a *long* time to strip off. With other veneer, I used a single-edge razor blade to peel-off the soaked glue, but to strip this, I had to use a hobby knife and find the best angle to chip it off without snagging the veneer itself. I also found the veneer to be quite thin, which made it splinter fairly easily.
I did finally succeed in removing all of the glue. The veneer broke apart at the splices, which I had to trim off because I can't use them. They seems to occur at around every 5' to 7'.
All in all, I WAS able to make this work out for my use.
