Crossroads (Haven River Ranch) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 27,921 ratings

A sweeping small-town romance about love, loss, and a Montana legacy from USA Today bestselling author Devney Perry.

I met West Haven when I was eight years old. He taught me to play poker when I was nine, and we made paper airplanes together when I was eleven. He kissed me when I was sixteen. He was the best part about my family’s summer vacations to Montana. He was the boy who stole my heart. I was twenty-three when life ripped us apart.

Years later, I’m breaking my vow and returning to the ranch, not as a guest but its new owner. West might want me gone, but even he has to admit the only way to save his family’s legacy is with my help.

It’s not easy working side by side and facing those old memories. But this situation is only temporary. We’re at a crossroads. And as long as I don’t let myself fall in love with West Haven again, maybe this is our chance to put those ghosts to rest. Maybe this time we’ll finally be able to say goodbye.

So good
I received this book in a blind book box that I had ordered. It was just what I needed. This was such a sweet Montana cowboy heartwarming story. Had a slight Romeo and Juliet feel where they were kind of star crossed lovers but they never had the timing right. I loved Indya and my heart broke for her in a million different ways. She just wants what’s best for those she cares about. West is definitely your grumpy cowboy but at the same time he’s only ever had one true love and it was Indya. I really enjoyed their story.𝑮𝒊𝒈𝒈𝒍𝒆 𝑭𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒓 😂😂😂𝑺𝒑𝒊𝒄𝒆 🔥🔥𝑶𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒍𝒍 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Crossroads was outstanding! It was a beautiful and emotional story with the most incredible build! I loved how everything unfolded, it was a love story that spanned over time and then culminated into an exceptional happily ever after. There were remarkable details that pulled me in and the storytelling was stellar. This book had me holding my breath and I loved it all.

Indya and West were truly amazing characters. I loved learning about their lives from the past and present and when those moments intersected and paralleled with the present day. The feelings between them ran deep and I felt that longing between them, the pull they had to one another. This story was filled with emotion and so many significant and poignant moments as they got to know each other as adults and connected. It was full of depth and layers and I loved all the nuances taking place.

I loved learning about their different family dynamics and the things that happened in their lives to form who they are. It’s complicated, messy, and real. I felt so much for West’s brother Jax and am really looking forward to his story in Sunlight. Besides Indya’s relationship with West, other aspects are unfolding related to her, and the wait to find out all those details was just as killer as waiting for the two of them to get to their HEA. There's some mild drama along the way, really good steam, and a whole lot of emotion. My feelings were all over the place and I needed more tissues than I want to admit.

This was a descriptive story with exceptional details and I thought it moved at an exciting pace. I was filled with so many questions and I loved that it really built to those answers. I was invested and rooting for them. The ending and epilogue were wonderful, I loved the growth and healing. I thought this was a phenomenal read filled with love and heart and so much emotion! New Devney Perry favorite!

A new series from Devney Perry, and I was in romantic heaven with this one! A chemistry-filled, second-chance romance with drama, emotion and the most beautiful love story as childhood loves are reunited in difficult circumstances in small town Montana.

Indya and West met as children when her wealthy family holidayed at his family’s resort/ranch in Montana. For one week every year or two, they were constantly by each other’s sides, and as teenagers they fell hard for each other. They never had the opportunity for a real relationship though, and with broken hearts in their 20s, they both moved on with their lives.

It’s years later when Indya returns to Montana as the new owner of the ranch. West is devastated that his family legacy has been sold out from under him, especially to the girl who once owned his heart, so we get this delicious love/hate thing happening with lots of snark and anger, while secretly they are all torn up inside to be together again, and the sexual tension between them is hotter than ever before. It’s so freaking good!

As Indya gets to work fixing up the run down resort, West realises that he has no choice but to support her if he wants to stay on his land. He slowly lowly starts to see the positive change that she is bringing, and he reluctantly agrees to work with her. And the more time they spend together, the more their lifelong attraction sizzles. Their past is murky, and they’ve got a lot they need to talk about, but their connection proves to be irresistible.

The romance is a slow burn, and the build-up is sensational. There’s lots of protective/possessive moments, the sexy time is hot and intense, and the emotion between these two is absolutely beautiful. I was with them every step of the way as they find their way back to each other, finally opening up about their pasts, their lives, and their feelings, and I loved watching them find their way to a much-deserved happy ending together.

The story of their past is told in flashback, and with so many secrets between them I was constantly guessing at all that had happened – both between them, and while they were apart - to get them to where they are at. And Perry does a fantastic job of revealing things at just the right moment for maximum impact.

On a side note - as a fan of HGTV renovation shows, I loved being on board with Indya as she gets to work fixing up the run-down resort. It’s just enough to paint a picture without detracting from the character’s stories, and I loved the resort, the ups and downs with the staff, and the whole setting for the story.

There are some complex family dynamics in this one, and amidst it all we are introduced to West’s younger brother, Jax, and I’m so looking forward to his story up next.

I loved losing myself in this book, and I loved West and Indya’s story so much.

I just finished reading Crossroads and although it took me longer to get through it than I would have liked (life just got in the way), it was an addictive read and I couldn’t wait to read what happened next.

Indya is a rich girl from Texas who visits a ranch resort in Montana with her parents every summer growing up. Every summer she sees the same boy, West Haven. As they get older her thoughts about him grow with her. Does he want to play with me? Does he like me? Does he notice me? Does he want to kiss me? Does he have a girlfriend? Years later Indya returns to the ranch as an adult, some news West isn’t going to like, and some secrets. India’s question now is whether the news and her secrets are going to cause West to end up hating her?

It had just the right amount of steam without being too much. It was funny, romantic, and made me cry. Cowboys, Childhood Sweethearts, Second Chances, Rich girl/Poor boy, forced Proximity, secrets, this book has so much.

I can’t wait to read book 2 in the series. I would highly recommend this book to the romance lovers.

“I have loved you since I was ten. Since you left a paper airplane and flowers in my fort. I love you. I have always loved you.”

This was so unbelievably sweet. Small town romance authors just never seem to get the vibes wrong. They know what I want and I eat it up.

I loved the flashbacks and flashforwards in this. A lot of times I really don't like it as it can make a book feel disjointed and really interrupts the flow of a story, but these were 10/10 perfection. I loved the opportunity to see their relationship grow since they met as children, while still maintaining steady pacing in the "current" timeline.

There's no universe where these two characters couldn't have had an HEA. Absolutely not. Enduring love and complimentary personalities always win.

I’m on a book slump, so this quick read grabbed a bit of my attention.
I like the characters and the setting was really nice.

This author’s writing style is also a favorite of mine, so I know the angst and the tension are present.

Will there be a story for the kid brother? I hope so!

This book totally scores on all counts. Emotion, family, nostalgia, romance and love. The to and fro between the now and childhood also holds out interest and curiosity. It's a lovely book and I highly recommend it. Same with the story of Jax.

Not usually a fan of second chance romance, but Indya and West stole my heart.
I already knew I really enjoyed Devney Perry's writing, having read her previous small town series - The Edens - but I loved it even more in Crossroads. The story was well paced, the characters were flawed and well rounded, and the dual timeline narration was not at all confusing, but extremely well done, adding so much depth to Indya and West's relationship. The Montana ranch setting was amazing, providing the right amount of forced proximity necessary for them to move past the hurt and fall in love again after years apart.
I flew through Crossroads in a couple of days, along with the audiobook, and it was honestly addicting...I couldn't put it down and now I cannot wait for the next one in the series already!

“I wished I had kept her. I wished our timing had worked years ago. I wished I had waited. I wished she had waited too.”

Crossroads was exactly the read I needed!! This author does smalltown second chances so well, and this was no exception. Between the angst, family dynamics, tension, and emotion- I was captivated and stayed up well into the night to read more.

These two see each other every year that Indya's family visits West's family ranch and inn. A friendship forms into something more as they grow older. But life happens. Opportunities are missed. And now Indya's back, but as the new owner of the ranch that has been in his family for generations. Told in past/present timelines, I loved seeing their relationship evolve while simultaneously seeing where it began, grew, and fell apart too. And the author doesn't skimp on the spice either. But chapter 26 friends, get the tissues- it definitely had me crying.

This was a fabulous read. About so much more than romance. It's about love, loss and healing too. Fan's of second chance romance should definitely read it! Looking forward to Sunlight!
