Sometimes the most valuable treasures are found in the darkest of times. In fact, it's often in the very heart of our deepest pain and struggle that God chooses to reveal his most precious gifts. Let Katherine Wolf lead you in finding the hope God has for you in your most painful places.

In our lowest, most difficult moments, it's often impossible to see any good thing around us. We suffer, we struggle, we grow weary. We wonder, Is God at work in my life? Is he near me? Is there any point to my suffering and any hope for change?

Though it's easy for our overwhelming pain to cloud our view of reality, the truth is that, even though we can’t see it or feel it, God is at work in the darkness. Our Creator is in the business of bringing dead—and nearly dead—things to life.

Even now, no matter how fresh your wounds might be, he invites you to unearth his hidden treasures in your hurting, to reframe your darkness as a sacred space in which the light of hope can shine most brilliantly. Come join Katherine Wolf as she vulnerably shares her own places of wounding and the life-changing insights she has found there. Treasures in the Dark will guide you as you

  • find grace for the heartbreak of unmet expectations;
  • explore the surprising intersection of pain and purpose;
  • wholeheartedly embrace the life you never imagined living with perseverance and joy; and
  • recognize how your healing can be a part of the world's healing.

With her vibrant faith and unique perspective on life as a stroke survivor and person living with significant disabilities, Katherine will inspire, encourage, and strengthen tender and hurting hearts.

I love it when someone "just gets you"
5 Stars
I love it when someone "just gets you"
You know that feeling when you share a piece of yourself, and you know the other person really understands? That is the feeling I get when Katherine shares her story, the good and the hard. She writes from a place of deep compassion and gratitude. While she loves to celebrate the good parts of her story (or those she encounters), she isn't afraid to sit in the hard parts. She doesn't rush past the pain of loss or grief for what has changed. If you are looking for a friendly voice to sit with you or walk with you in a painful season, this is a great choice. You will be seen, encouraged and led along a hope-filled path in the hurting.

This is so honest and pure. It doesn’t downplay suffering or make it an excuse. It doesn’t try to put a bandaid on a hemorrhaging heart. Katherine’s words come from someone who is walking out the good hard story and allowing us to see and benefit from her journey through pain and suffering. She brings hope.

Treasures in the Dark was best read as a daily entry for me. The pages are rich with personal history and the wealth of emotional depth and healing that came out of Katherine's struggles when her life changed drastically to facing severe loss of her own health and independence. Her perseverance in finding her life to be good and hopeful yield truths that can help lift the rest of us and shed light as we face our own dark moments or years on this earth. This is a book to be re-read again and savored by those wanting to grow and live in hope.

What an encouraging and real and thoughtful book for those who struggle with suffering. Told through the lens of someone who has endured tremendous suffering and will continue to have a less than easy life. (to put it mildly!)
The transparency and candor and hope all tied into ones a balm to my soul. THANK YOU!

This beautiful book of reflections is chock full of the goodness and grace Katherine has experienced in her hard story. She so eloquently reminds us if God’s abundant goodness is true for her it is most certainly true for us too! Katherine is the read deal - she has depth and authenticity and it oozes out in all of her writing and speaking. She knows the truth and the truth gives her authority, compassion and freedom to share the treasures she has found in her darkness. Nothing wasted and all for the glory of God! You will treasure this book!

If you haven't experienced pain yet in your life, you are very fortunate, but almost certainly it will come in one way or another. That is simply our common life experience. If it has already hit, or in preparation, you need this book. Katherine shares lessons she has learned from her experience with a brain stem stroke (and more) that began at age 26. There are sections on hurting, healing and hoping. It is encouraging! It is essential! God has helped Katherine find "Treasures in the Dark", and you will find them too - but you need to look. This wonderful book will help you. It has meant a great deal to our family and situation.

Katherine and Alex’s brief entries felt accessible for me to pick up and read each day. I found myself laughing, crying, relating, learning, and resting with each turn of the page. If you need a gift for someone suffering, need a guidebook for yourself, or just want to know how to live someone who is hurting better…this book if for you!

I’ve read both of Katherine Wolf’s previous books (Hope Heals and Suffer Strong) and loved them so much. I was eagerly awaiting her new book and it does not disappoint! Katherine Wolf’s vulnerability in sharing her story and divinely inspired insights will penetrate your heart. She has lived (and is still living) every word she writes, and concludes each segment with, “If it’s true for me, could it be true for you too?” I’m not a great writer like Katherine, so for me, words can’t express how meaningful this book would be for anyone struggling with life (which is most of us). If I were independently wealthy I would grace the world with this book. Highly recommend!

Somewhere in the beginning of the year I chose a word for it : HOPE.
Last year, as I stumbled and fumbled through severe depression I had several moments of hopelessness and helplessness.
I prayed that this year would be marked by hope. Not because my circumstances would change, but because I'd choose to reframe and believe and trust, even when I don't feel, see, or understand God.
This book and discovering Katherine was/is probably the best gift of this year.
I recommend for all those in search for hope and light that endures through life's dizzying suffering.
I find the book to be a blend of realism, faith, empathy, love and even humour!
Katherine is like the best friend you'd want to have in any season of life.
