"YOU NEED TO READ THIS HOT NEW READ. The Push and Pull between Valentina & Damiano is off the charts!!" - Jasmin on Goodreads
"The chemistry between Damiano and Valentina was off the charts. The spice was excellent, and the kink included was perfection. The way he was able to be equally caring and dominant is my kryptonite." - Dearna on Goodreads
From the Author
When the food arrives, my stomach starts to growl, so I excuse myself and go to the bathroom. The second I come out, I slam right into a hard, warm body.
"Oof!"
Strong hands wraps around my waist. Immediately, I know it's him.
"What are you—"
"Tell me, what did you hope to accomplish by showing up here dressed like this?" he says close to my ear. Close enough for his breath to caress my neck.
My pulse speeds. "What—"
"If you wanted attention, you got it."
I tug his hands off me. "You have no idea what I want."
"You like having men's hungry eyes on you. Is that it?"
"I think you're just upset I caught you looking."
My words slam his mouth shut. I think he might leave me alone, but instead, his hand cinches my wrist.
"What now?" I demand as he pulls me in the direction of the bar. People are staring at us, but if he notices it, he doesn't care. In fact, it's almost like he wants them to see us together. Instead of taking the most direct route, he walks me all the way around the dining room.
"I don't need an escort," I tell him.
"You have no idea what you need."
We make it to the bar, and when he lets go of me, he leaves behind a bracelet of heat wrapped around my wrist. My friends slide off their stools and stammer out a few panicked hellos, but he barely acknowledges them. He's about to walk away, but then he notices there's no plate for me on the counter. He shoots me a furious glare I can't begin to comprehend and waves the bartender over. The young man nearly trips over his feet.
"Si, Señor De Ross—"
"Put their bill on my tab," he snaps.
My jaw drops. Excuse me? Does he think I'm some charity case? Didn't I just prove to him I don't need any handouts? "You can't do this," I say.
"Keep telling me what I can't do."
The warning in his voice is impossible to miss. I meet his dark eyes and swallow. "I'm not going to order anything."
He turns back to the bartender. "Have the chef prepare the catch of the day, the octopus, ceviche, and all the sides." Then he leans into my ear again. "If you don't eat what I ordered, I'm going to come back and feed it to you. Think hard about whether you want me to do that in front of the entire restaurant."

SPOILER WARNING:
Valentina just got out of an abusive relationship with her husband by escaping the country and traveling to Ibiza to start a new life. She gets robbed on the first day there and makes two friends following the robbery who help her and encourage her to come work with them in the infamous club, Revolvr.
She ends up meeting our main male lead, Damiano, who blatantly refuses to give her a job, but she’s desperate and manages to convince him to give her a trial week to prove she’s good enough to work there.
And the story goes from there.
I honestly loved Valentina from the start. She’s resilient and tough and would do anything to prove to herself that she’s not a bad person. Her demos haunt her and her storyline and development as a character are immaculate.
Damiano is also a well-developed character and a good person. He has hatred and wants to avenge his parents death, all the while trying to protect his sister. He has his own demons to deal with, and with the help of Valentina, he faces them and becomes a better person.
My least favorite thing about this book was the certain scene where Valentina meets Martina for the first time, and specifically, Damiano’s reaction to that. He doesn’t act with rationality whatsoever, and instead, after just being with Valentina on the beach, (and saving her life, no less), he immediately drugs her and locks her up. I know that he hat to act quickly, since he thought that Valentina was tricking him or something, and that he was nervous but could he have not thought of a better strategy?
That’s not my issue though, mine is the fact that he didn’t bother fully apologizing to her, even though he knew she had the biggest hand in his sister’s survival. I just wish we could’ve seen Valentina make him grovel more after what he’d done, other than the “You said you would leave” comment she made when he tried to bandage her up.
Either way, all other aspects of this book are amazing and deep, and I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes dark mafia romances, strong heroines.

The story follows Vale, a woman whose husband is a monster. She entered into an arranged marriage a few months ago, and she's horrified by the things he's made her do to others. So when Vale finally reaches her limit and goes on the run - shooting her husband in the process - her only goal is to get as far away as mafia life as possible. When Vale winds up in Ibiza and realizes that she can probably disappear into the club scene there, she bargains with the powerful man who owns most of the businesses in the area. Damiano makes assumptions about Vale based on their first interaction, so he's angry about the physical pull he feels towards her. But Vale is nothing like he expected at first glance, and that just reels him in even more. As the two fight their feelings and give into temptation, Vale soon discovers that she may not have escaped her old life after all.
I will say that I tried to read the fourth book in the series first (since it just released), and it was clear that the series is best appreciated in order. It was no hardship to go back and experience this one first, especially since there's a great audiobook to go along with it. The characters and suspenseful subplot tie the series together, though the romance is a standalone. I love a good strangers to lovers scenario, and these two had chemistry from the moment they met. There are instant feelings between them, though they are definitely lust-based for quite awhile. It's a slower emotional burn, but that made sense for the characters - especially given how things play out. They're both keeping some MAJOR secrets from each other, and that affects the dynamic between them in a big way. I loved watching it all unravel. There were moments that were darker than I typically prefer (and definitely potentially triggering), but the book as a whole is mostly sexy and suspenseful - I wouldn't consider it to be overly dark. What would've pushed this into 5-star territory for me is stronger development of the emotional connection. These two absolutely have heat between them, but there were really no "swoony" moments. Yeah, it's a mafia romance, but I still expect some of that. In the end, this was a very solid read though, and I had a great time enjoying the ride.
Audio note: I liked it! I've listened to Gabriel Spires in other audiobooks before and liked him, but he sounds completely different here. The character has a thick accent (Italian? Spanish? maybe I should've been paying more attention, lol). Either way, he does a fantastic job with the accent, which was easy to understand but also very sexy. I also thought Charlotte Claremont did a great job, particularly with her voice for Vale. Her crisp, clear voice was not a hardship to listen to, that's for sure. However, her accent for Damiano was VERY different than Spires' accent for him, which was jarring. Not my favorite, but I got used to it pretty quick. There were a couple of minor production issues - sentences that were clearly added in later and the accent wasn't right - but those were few and far between. I very much enjoyed the audio overall, and would have no problem continuing the series that way. It's probably too sexy to listen to at the office, but the vibes are perfect for bingeing. Definitely recommended overall.
Damiano is self made and has plans to avenge his parents’ deaths. He has to keep his sites on the prize at the end. His sister is abducted but she managed to escape with the assistance of a mystery woman. He is grateful she managed to get back to him in one piece but he hasn’t been able to figure out the who and why behind it. He has no doubt the answer will come it’s just a matter of time.
This is book 1 of this set and definitely worth your time.
