Lt. Colonel Mack accurately portrays American Military History and has a thorough knowledge of the subject. His recount of dates, times, and events are spot on. As a retired combat veteran, he effectively connected with the American militia of the day. This is a "must read" for veterans and non-veterans alike. As a senior officer, Lt. Colonel Mack would have been welcomed to have command of one of my units. Major General Peter J. Gravett, US Army (Retired).

Colonel McBrearty is a talented writer with a very bright future ahead of himself! I loved this book! McBrearty explains AMERICAN HISTORY so that a veteran and non-historian like me can understand and find it interesting. He has a mastery of the English language that will take you by surprise. A great first effort in the publishing world. Keep up the great work Colonel!!

What makes this book fascinating is that it discusses a selection of academic texts on American History by a combat veteran who speaks with the authority of someone who dedicated his life to defending this country.

Lieutenant Colonel McBrearty’s reflections always maintain a personal perspective through photos and the selection of texts he examines. However, as we progress through the cultural changes and wars that shaped America’s recent History, McBrearty speaks as a direct participant, and the book culminates in his poignant speech honoring his fallen comrades.

The book is truly a compelling and thought-provoking read!

(I bought this book at a VA Veterans Day Celebration – the perfect occasion)
