I am updating my original review since the Mr. Pen company reached out to me to offer me a full refund. That alone is worth a star upgrade! My review stands with one update. Soak these in warm water - NOT HOT! And, let them soak for 2 - 3 hours and let them dry out thoroughly. You will have much better results with the size. Now, this is a recap of my original review:

The bag comes compressed in an 8 x 10 flat box. (Similar to what an 8 x 10 picture frame comes in.) The contents look like colorful ground breadcrumbs. You soak them in water and looking at the pictures you think they are going to be similar in size to marbles. WELL - they go from looking like ground breadcrumbs to crushed breadcrumbs. The description lists some things they can be used for, arts & crafts, aquariums, flower vases, etc. I have absolutely no imagination, so these were a little worthless for me. However, I am sure there are lots & lots of people out there that will find multiple uses for these water beads. Unfortunately, I am just not one of them.

I measured out ½ teaspoon of water beads and 8 ounces of water and put them in a 12 ounce glass. We had to leave for a few hours and that would give them time to soak up the water. Once we returned home, all the water had been absorbed and the water beads had gone from their miniscule 1/16 of an inch to 3/8 inch in diameter. I was curious as to whether they would get bigger with more water. I poured some in a little mason jar that my wife is rooting a clipping in. The jar had a lot of water in it and the water beads swelled up to ½ inch in diameter. My wife took all the hydrated beads and poured them on top of the soil in some of her potted plants. She said she has seen products like this used in flower shops and such. These water beads come vacuum sealed in a large bag. We opened the bag and poured them into a canister where the extras could be stored until we were ready to use them. I just have a feeling we are going to be seeing water beads in all of her potted plants in the near future.
