WARNING To Bunny Owners!!

WARNING To Bunny Owners!!
Please read if you are thinking of using this for your buns!! I originally ordered this litter while searching for a replacement to Yesterday's News (RIP), and it seemed great at first. This litter is very absorbent, the crumbliness of the litter is easy to distribute in the litter pan, and my two buns' litter box could go literally 5-7 days without smelling or being wet.Seemed great, right??? Well, turns out this stuff almost killed my bunny. A month into using this litter, but 2 year old bun started eating less salad and acting lethargic. He's never been sick before, but we suspected GI stasis and after a few days of syringe feeding we ended up at the small animal hospital which cost us over $400 for exams/x-rays/medicines. They confirmed stasis but no blockage, so we continued syringe feedings/medicines/belly rubs, you know the drill. Our bun remained sick and not eating hardly anything for a FULL WEEK!! His belly felt so so so firm, I was so confused why the GI stasis wasn't clearing up. At this point, I was watching his every move because I was very worried about him. At one point, I put some fresh litter in his box and as I watched him hop in and it almost looked like he ate a few bites of litter!! I thought I was crazy. Surely he had just eating a few pieces of fallen hay, right? Surely he hasn't been eating litter this whole times, right?? I ignored it at first, but then I saw him do it again. I was livid. This litter is very absorbent and expands a LOT when it gets wet, which understandably would wreak havoc on a bun's GI track! I Immediately threw out all the litter and just put hay in his box, and guess what? He started improving within hours and was 100% back to normal by 24 hrs.I'm so grateful I saw him actively eating this stuff, otherwise I would have never figured it out. He probably would have died in a few days/weeks from GI stasis. Please please please make sure your bun isn't eating this litter or just be safe use a different kind!!

I use about 1-1.5 cup worth of this litter in her litter box that I refresh every 3 days. I line the bottom of the litter box with newspaper and this seems to be the right amount of absorbency and smell control. My bunny's small (2lb) and I buy a new bag every few 4 months.
