Runaway Groomsman Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 21,373 ratings

From USA Today and Amazon Charts bestselling author Meghan Quinn comes a heartfelt romantic comedy about new beginnings and finding the romanticized happily ever after in the most unlikely of places.

Hollywood screenwriter Sawyer Walsh knows a good love story when he sees it. But when it comes to real life romance, he’s a mess. That’s how he finds himself standing at the altar…as his ex-girlfriend ties the knot with his very famous best friend. The pressure, the resentment, the media coverage—it’s all too much—and before he knows exactly what he’s doing, he’s making a run for it, leaving a shocked congregation and flashing cameras in his wake.

Needing to lie low amid the media fallout, Sawyer lands in the charming town of Canoodle, California, where he crosses paths with Fallon Long, who runs the Canoodle Cove Cabins, a family-owned business and Sawyer’s new short-term residence. Overwhelmed with renovations and her long list of responsibilities, Fallon is struggling to make ends meet while attempting to bring the cabins back to their original glory. So when Sawyer arrives, she is grateful for the income, but immediately writes him off as just another vapid Hollywood hack, until he begins to prove her wrong at every turn.

As Fallon comes closer to saving the family business, an undeniable bond forms between her and the handsome screenwriter. But the pressures of her family obligations and Sawyer’s notoriety might prove to be too much for anyone to handle. Could Canoodle be the setting for a new romance—or is true love just a Hollywood cliché?

Meghan Quinn has been one of my favorite authors since I first started reading her novels back in 2015 and each book since then has been a winner for me. Why? Because her novels make me genuinely laugh. They are “feel good” romances with incredible banter (something that’s very important to me as a reader) and when I’m reading them it feels like a good cuddle. There’s just something soothing about her books and whenever I escape into her characters lives, I feel HAPPY. In Runaway Groomsman readers will meet Fallon and Sawyer. Fallon is trying to keep her grandparent’s legacy intact by fixing up Canoodle Cove Cabins so that they can prosper again like they did when her grandparents ran it. But taking care of an aging grandfather with Alzheimer’s makes it more difficult. Enter Sawyer, Los Angeles screenwriter and man of the tabloids after her makes a scene at his exes wedding. Trying to lie low for a while he ends up in the quirky town of Canoodle where the mayor is a cat and the owner of his rental is someone from his past. What would possibly go wrong? Or even, right? This one is another winner for me and I was smiling ear to ear while reading it. I love the setting (it reminds me of my childhood), the themes of friendship and family loyalty, and the budding slow burn romance between Sawyer and Fallon. All around its just a feel good romantic comedy that had me laughing out loud and grinning from start to finish. Runaway Groomsman is just the kind of chemistry-filled, entertaining and heartfelt story that I have come to expect from Meghan Quinn. The story setting, the unique take on a runaway groomsman concept, the complex but oh so human and lovable characters, coupled with the most tingling of chemistry, Runaway Groomsman was truly the most perfect escapism.

This book has a fun set-up, and all of the epic banter, fun moments and thoroughly enjoyable inner monologues that I love so much about this author’s books. Fallon and Sawyer are both completely likable characters, and the chemistry between them is just fantastic. I loved the give and take of their relationship. The gestures, empathy and thoughtful tenderness were heart melting especially from Saywer. The witty conversations they had no matter how their relationship stood and the strength they both learned they had from each other. Their relationship timeline felt authentic and real, and I enjoyed reading their story.

There’s other stuff going on in the story too – Fallon has family drama which really bring the feels, and Sawyer is there supporting her through it all. Honestly, the most beautiful moments of the story was the relationship between Sawyer and Sully, Fallon’s grandfather, who is suffering from Alzheimer’s. It was heartwarming and inspiring and I swooned so hard over it. I adored the friendship as it was written, and I adored the layers it added to the story.

Runaway Groomsman is the ultimate feel good romance. An exemplary blend of intoxicating chemistry, a swoony hero, a strong heroine, witty banter, a tension filled slow-burn, and a huge sprinkle of feels.

A sweet story with lots of witty banter and lovable side characters. This was an easy read that PROBABLY went on a little longer than necessary but was entertaining and enjoyable nonetheless.

I also love how Meghan Quinn is able to weave in diverse representation in to so many of her stories!

Really like the author. This was my favorite romance by her. Couldn't put the book down. Love this swoon worthy hero! Love the slow romance buildup! Felt like I was there on location with the characters. Intimate scenes were great, wish there was more for the relationship. The author makes the heroine strong and smart.

I absolutely loved this book. It had everything I expect from a Meghan Quinn book, it had romance, laughter, a story that gets you hooked and fantastic characters. The story between Sawyer and Fallon had me hooked, Jaz was hilarious and Sully was adorable. Not only do you get hooked on Fallon and Sawyer and their story but you get hooked on the other characters in the book as well. They were all written fantastically, the love story was a story that I'd absolutely love myself lol, and the humour throughout was brilliant. I highly recommend this book and cannot wait to read another of hers! Definitely one of my favourite authors.

This story is about Sawyer who's a Hollywood screenwriter and as you can guess from the title, he has runaway from his ex's wedding. He causes an entire scene there which is unfortunately captured in the cameras and to get away from the media, he decides to hideaway for a while which lands him into the small-town where Fallon lives. The first and middle part of the book was going on well. It was a slow-burn and I usually love such stories but the blurb didn't have a warning that this book has a love triangle. Because Fallon has a long distance boyfriend when Sawyer meets her. But because of that, there was so much pinning on Sawyer's part which I liked. So I kind of have mixed feelings about the book. But nonetheless it was fun to read though I was expecting something more from the ending. I liked the setting of the small town and the side characters especially Grandpa Sully and Jaz, they were so hilarious! So the book wasn't lacking in the humour department which made it more enjoyable for me.
