Triumph over adversity using proven Special Operations habits and mindsets with this inspiring guide from retired Navy SEAL and New York Times bestselling author Jason Redman.

Adversity can often catch you by surprise and leave you struggling with what to do next. What if you could confront any adversity, from the biggest challenges -- the loss of your job, divorce, health issues, bankruptcy -- to normal daily challenges -- a late flight, a disappointing phone call, a missed promotion, a bad day -- and not just survive it, but thrive afterwards?

Redman was horrifically wounded in Iraq in 2007 when he was shot at close range through the face and arm. After 40 surgeries, including extensive facial reconstruction and skin grafts, he came back from this experience stronger than ever -- despite carrying scars and injuries he will have for the rest of his life. Redman went on to launch two successful companies and speaks all over the country on how to build better leaders through his Overcome mindset.

Overcome is based on extensive research and interviews with America's toughest warriors, including retired 4-star Admiral William McRaven, retired Navy SEAL Jocko Willink, retired 4-star General Stanley McChrystal, and others. In this book, Redman teaches:

  • How to survive any life ambush
  • How to move from defense to offense using the proactive techniques of SEAL teams
  • How to strengthen your endurance during long-term trials
  • How to rediscover and thrive in your life purpose
  • How to lead your team (whether in business or family) to success
  • How to compete with the top 1% in your field
  • How to stay the course even when you want to quit
  • And more

Some people move through adversity and others fall underneath it. Learn how you can be counted among those who will
Overcome.

MUST READ! A unique and helpful book to overcome any adversity!
One of the qualities of a leader is having a certain level of vulnerability, one not completely exposing, admitting where he has struggled or failed to himself. From this, he is able for learn more than if he had not checked his ego thus being able to teach others and further grow himself.Jason Redman is this leader. In “OVERCOME”, he shares many of his own struggles in his personal life and in business. By doing this, he is both able to learn more about himself and help others grow at the same time. What makes “OVERCOME” so good is that Jason not only shares his own difficulties in life but he shares the stories of others as well. This is important because many of these individuals we automatically assume have it all figured out; but we all struggle, even those in well known positions.Further more, what makes this book so well rounded is that it offers a plethora of resolutions that the reader can apply to their own life! So we have an author that shares with us some of his greatest struggles and tough decisions he’s made in his life, admittedly needed a lot of growth, chooses to grow and learn, shares the stories of many inspirational people, and the offers ways we can improve in our own lives. Must read.

This book is a great guide for people who manage other people--especially new managers. While avoiding an ambush isn't always possible, learning to spot the "X" and develop strategies and tactics to avoid it or get off it if stuck on it, was the key take away for me. The book reinforced many things I instinctively felt early in my career, but didn't know how to pursue ways forward. In my opinion, "Overcome" should be required reading in every college business curriculum.

This is ( hands down) one of the most inspirational books on leadership I've ever read (and I've read quite a few). It's challenging, practical, honest, and motivating. It's one of those books that you'll turn to in those moments when you need to reconsider where you stand in the midst of a crisis and how to reorient yourself to get out of the kill zone.

Redman had a lot of setbacks mostly because of struggles with his ego, showing how powerful our ego and refusing to be humble can affect our lives, in the end, learn how to get off the X, never let adversity put you in quicksand, but force you to look for a way to get off the X, and even though things are going well, be on the look out for struggles around the corner

I first heard Jason speak at the Empire Business Summit and was riveted by his presentation of overcoming his setbacks as a Naval Officer and later going through his own literal life ambush. His ability to take a near death experience and transform it into a movement to help other is inspiring. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has been through a life ambush and is still trying to figure out how to move forward with their lives.

Entrepreneurs will find this book useful due in part to the excellent leadership skills that are demonstrated throughout the book. I am a prior Navy Medical Officer and I wish I had this book when I started out my career. Leading yourself and leading always are concepts that once learned will make you a more effective leader. Earning your leadership daily is a powerful concept.

I am fortunate that I have not yet had a major life ambush. Thank you to Jason for writing this book and providing me with the systems to build a strong foundation so that I will be better prepared when the ambushes of life come and I will be able to “Get off the X!”
