Architexts tells the story of the employees of the fictitious architectural firm, Franklin + Newbury Architects. The projects at Franklin + Newbury Architects aren’t all that exciting; mostly tenant fit-outs, small commercial renovations, feasibility studies... not much new construction. It’s pretty much a typical architectural firm. The lack of exciting design work makes the young production staff jaded and cynical. Every day is a new struggle with their mundane jobs, forcing them to constantly find ways to amuse themselves. The staff of Franklin + Newbury Architects is made up of designers and drafters ranging from recent graduates who still have high expectations for their careers and the profession, to more experienced designers in their mid-thirties who would like to work in a better firm but feel stuck. Sadly, the comics are based on the real-life experiences of architectural professionals. Your office may not be exactly like Franklin + Newbury Architects, but we are sure you will be able to relate to the situations and hijinks that occur. ARCHITEXTS: VOLUME 1 is a collection of all the comics from the first year of Architexts, plus some never-before-seen content. Visit Architexts online at http://architexts.us

JOKER has a B.S. in Architecture and works full time as an architectural designer. He is still on his open-ended sabbatical from finishing his Master’s Degree, and still has little desire to pursue taking the AREs. Joker has worked in several firms since the start of his career, and has always been underpaid. He lives at an undisclosed location with his family.

MAVERICK is a Registered Architect with a Master of Architecture degree. Maverick has been working for small architectural firms for his entire career. Maverick is now a member of the AIA (at his firm’s expense, of course), and is still trying to figure out what difference it makes. In the little spare time he has, Maverick enjoys reading and sketching--mostly subjects that don’t include architecture.

Love it! Got it as a birthday gift. I just wonder why the format was made so large... lots of wasted paper for LEED APs. funny stuff though. I was so excited when I got it.

I am a young architect- this subject matter explored day to day via the blog is just too funny- this is such a great idea I only wish I would have thought of it first. Can't wait to read the extras this book contains that would be otherwise outside of their blog!

This book is great. Very well written and so true to my own experiences. A must have for any architect, designer, intern, or anyone who wants a good laugh!
