BOOK REVIEW
Reviewed by Miche Arendse for Readers' Favorite
Wild Child of the Monsoons by Ann Zachariah, M.D. is a collection of poems that touches on various themes ranging from pain and love to grief. Like the rains in a monsoon, the emotions from these poems rain upon you and drench you in lyrical prose that will touch your very soul. Speaking of the resilience of human beings and their ability to overcome immense hardship and pain, Wild Child of the Monsoons invites the reader to delve into their mind and find inspiration.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Wild Child of the Monsoons by Ann Zachariah. The poems were all beautifully written and so emotionally provocative that I read the book in one sitting. I will say I have found myself going back to read a few poems especially Healing Hands and A Love Song, which really resonated with me and my personal experiences. Zachariah truly has such an amazing way with words and you can tell how much emotion and thought went into this poetry. The flow, the tone, and the beautiful illustrations that tie everything together make this such a wonderful poetry book to own. I feel as though poetry isn't as revered as it once was but books like these make me glad that the art of writing poetry hasn't died out. This book will definitely be going onto my list of favorites and I hope other lovers of poetry will pick this up and give it a read. I hope it will move others as much as it did me.

Delve into a world of captivating and inspiring memoirs, poetry, self-help, and heart-touching fiction from the best-selling and award-winning authors Ann Zachariah and Peter Berlin.

Beloved Readers and Fellow Kindred Spirits,

Step into my realm, where I unveil heartfelt memoirs, tales of soulful bonds, uplifting verses, and transformative self-help to empower your life. Writing ignited my soul's journey – from scribbled poems on tattered pages with a chewed-up pencil at age five, to this vibrant world we now share.

From Ink to Impact My Life's Journey Through Words

Following the release of my debut poetry collection, "The Wild Child of Monsoons," life grew busier, and my creative pursuits took a backseat. Yet, the early months of 2023 brought a profound loss that shook me to my core. The passing of my beloved father, with whom I shared an exceptional bond, compelled me to embark on a healing journey through writing once more. This journey gave rise to my book, "Light Beyond the Veil: A Story of Loss and Transformation—Navigating Grief's Shadows with Hope and Renewal." Leveraging both my professional expertise and the spirituality I explored during my healing process, I penned my subsequent work, "Unleash Your True Self & Triumph over Grief: 7 Strategies for Transformation and Healing, Embracing Resilience and Rediscovering Renewal in the Wake of Loss.

"When the writing bug sinks its teeth into you, there's no turning back. Enter my latest creation, "From Heartbreak to Healing - OMG! I JUST GOT GHOSTED: Riding Emotional Tempests and Rediscovering Self-Value." Just as the ink flowed, destiny introduced Peter, a maestro of publicity, who breathed fresh vitality into my beloved tomes. Our partnership outdid mere professionalism, as we ventured into profound discussions.

"Though oceans and cultures separated us, our bond defied all geographical and societal limits. An extraordinary friendship bloomed, soaring beyond continental boundaries and perceived disparities. We harmonized like yin and yang, merging our creative sparks. Our motto- ‘Healing Hearts, Breaking Barriers’ Amidst our carefree banter and ceaseless conversations, knowing Peter's incredible writing talent, I proposed the idea of blending our creative energies, giving birth to 'The Invisible Red String.' Much like our friendship, which effortlessly traversed racial, cultural, and continental divides, this timeless love tale stands as a testament to the force of breaking barriers. Through our words, we shattered the constraints of time, space, race, culture, and class, birthing a literary masterpiece: 'The Invisible Red String: A Love Story That Transcends Time, Place, and Circumstance.' It's an epic of boundless love, etched into the threads of destiny."

Ann Zachariah, M.D. is a renowned psychiatrist, educator, clinician, and author based in Houston, Texas.

Mr. Peter Berlin is a publicist and author and lives in LA, California.

This book was a nice change from the stuff I generally read. I haven't read a book of poetry in quite some time, so when someone suggested this book, I just couldn't resist. Poetry has always been more of a sentimental thing for me since I used to write it myself. When I read poetry, it does bring up some deep emotions and I was hoping that this book was going to do that for me and it did.

This book is so creatively written and the artistry is all over it. This poet uses their childhood to bring up images that are important to them and their growth. By visiting their childhood and childhood home, the poet brings up a lot of nostalgia and lessons that they have learned in life.

One of the poems that I enjoyed was called Zachariah. In this poem, the words flow so beautifully and the poem just brought up some big feelings for me. Another poem that I loved is called A Daughter's Diary. This poem tugged at my heartstrings with his beautiful language about a daughter and how much she loves her family.

It is clear that as I went through this book, the poet is incredibly passionate about the words they use and how they express themselves. One of the poems that I enjoyed was called A Paradise I Call My Home. This poem was all about being peaceful and I felt connected to this poem from the minute I began to read it. One more poem that was filled with emotion is Healing Hands. This one had some great lines in it such as, "He filled their heart with hope, Life that flowed from his magical touch."

I do feel as if these poems truly do speak from the poet’s heart and they expressed how they felt throughout the entire book. I would recommend this book of poetry to anyone who needs to change up what they are reading and get a fresh view of the world.

From the first poem you will get lost in this book of beautiful poetry. I feel like the poems are about the author’s life and experiences. It appears she cherished her home and family growing up. There are other poems about love and life in general. I love some of the language used such as “...the romance between heaven and earth.” It evokes a beautiful image for me of God’s angels reaching down to earth and providing love and protection for us.

The poem Catatonic Stupor was particularly interesting to me, I loved the line “There are walls around my world, deep are my thoughts.” This describes parts of me and how I feel. Further on in the poem, she describes leading someone to a tree so they can share their dreams and find respite. So, there is hope in tearing down some of the walls.

If you love poetry, I highly recommend this book. The only issue I had was the font used. It was difficult to read, especially since it was a white print on a black background. I had to keep squinting to read the words, otherwise it's a great book.

This modern book of lyrical poetry covers many human emotions. In the opening poem Wild Child of the Monsoons, the author revisits their childhood home and is filled with nostalgia and self awareness. Very beautiful artwork also accompanies the poetry.
Zachariah uses very beautiful word combinations that flow nicely together and conjures imagery as they are read.
A Daughter's Diary is a very touching poem about a daughter's appreciation and love for a family that raised and took care of her.
Some of the poetry is romantic and dreamy. The poems are written from the author's heart and they are being shared with the readers. Family, Love, Rain and Flowers are some of the themes that repeat in the poetry.
As I read this book, the poems had a hypnotic and calming effect. Many of the poems are relatable. A great read for fans of poetry and art

As a lover of poems, I was excited when I came across this. I could tell the author was passionate about this and it shows throughout the book. She gave a bit of herself which allows us readers to feel connected to her, learn from her, and feel comforted at times.

From the very start I fell in love with the poem 'A Paradise I Call My Home'. This was so calming and made me feel like I was somewhere else that provided a peace. Having pictures right after each poem was a great addition. 'Healing Hands' was my second favorite. It was so touching and stood out to me. A line in it said " He filled their heart with hope, Life that flowed from his magical touch", and that was so deep for me. The one titled 'Shame' was another beautiful piece that helped me express some emotions that were hidden. With so many to choose from, you will be able to find something here that will speak to your heart.

I highly recommend this if you enjoy poems. It was well written, filled with love, and an affordable price.

These poems are both beautiful and lyrical. They resonate deeply with me. I would not describe them as ambiguous, or perhaps I just understood their meaning instantly. I absolutely loved the poem Autumn of the Heart. There are so many gems in this book. I look forward to reading it again and again. The book is beautifully presented and it really has a great title. This would make a beautiful present for a poetry lover.
