Shiva was a founding member of The Satanic Temple Detroit and The National Council (now International Council) of The Satanic Temple. In addition to being a chief architect of The Unveiling, Snaketivity, and other TST Detroit actions and rituals, she organized a number of national events/campaigns, including bringing the Baphomet to Arkansas 2018. Since 2017, she had created and led rituals at The Satanic Temple Salem, including modern takes on The Black Mass. Shiva has been featured in the film Hail Satan (2019) and CNN's This is Life with Lisa Ling: The Satanists Next Door (2015). Shiva creates candles, oils, and other ritual products for The Satanic Temple + her own line for Serpentīnae and considers ritual an essential part of her Satanic practice.

I read this book cover to cover in two sittings. I appreciate the background Shiva shares on the science behind ritual practice, but even more, her descriptions of her personal experience with ritual. One of the things I enjoyed most about the book is how accessible Shiva makes developing ritual practices feel. Throughout the book, she encourages the reader to improvise if they don't have something she's suggested or to add or subtract to make the ritual more personal and meaningful for them. This is so important for those who are newer to ritual. Whether you're looking for inspiration or an exact road map for group or personal ritual, you will find something here...and the stories and anecdotes of Shiva and other contributors' participation in ritual practices will keep you enamored along the way.

I'd rate this higher, unfortunately even though it is purchased from the Kindle book store, it cannot be read on a Kindle. The only way to read it is via the Kindle app.

If you're interested in modern Satanism, particularly if you're interested in performing rituals for your own psychological well-being and empowerment this is an interesting guidebook, however the inability to read it on a device that it ought to display on is a huge disappointment.
