SESG- Explorer by Christopher Loric is a well written science fiction adventure that takes the reader to a new world where a hostile alien species is looking to conquer all planets in their path. The United States government has received a message from an unknown sender. In response, the United States builds a fleet of ships and sends them on a diplomatic mission to determine who and/or what is out in the darkness of space. What they find is an aggressive species looking to expand its empire. Suddenly, what was considered diplomatic has turned into a fight for survival. This is a unique take on the sci-fi genre and offers a variety of characters and settings that are fun and exciting. Fans of science fiction will enjoy this as it creates new species and engaging scenarios for our heroes to contend with.

During a space trip to reach a remote planet, explorers have an encounter with alien species and learn in the hard way the dangers of expanding and conquering new worlds in deep space.
SESG Explorer introduces the topic of space exploration and does it with such ability that, I am sure, will captivate readers from the first page. Science fiction, action and suspense combine with well-drawn characters to give birth to a novel that deserves to be part of a series. We need to read more from its author, Christopher Loric.
I enjoyed this book a lot. The plot is very interesting and the narrative develops it excellently. The accuracy of the dialogues between the characters and their behaviour in these exploratory campaigns add originality and credibility to this work. I recommend it.

An alien race sends out an invitation to come and trade, and sends out the specifications for a hyperdrive. The only problem is, some of it missing. As it happens, the US has almost invented one itself, and has decided that the deficiencies just might be an invitation to return the call and ask for the missing bits, thus locating your planet. These could be bad aliens. So they build a fleet of ships. The first part of the book gives a fairly lengthy introduction to who and what will be going, and this could be considered overdone. Then off they go. They encounter pirates, and finally get to where they set out for, and if you want to know more, read the book.
The writing is reasonably clear, although occasionally I found the formatting annoying. I always prefer a space between scene changes but that did not always happen here. While it is an exploratory mission, it is clearly military and it is led by a Vice Admiral. The descriptions of the alien worlds are what is needed to set the scenes. The descriptions of some aliens are a little fanciful. The descriptions of the action are usually well-written, but without spending time on why they did what they did. A good military SF novel.

Being author Christopher Loric a retired U.S. Navy CDR with 28 years of service is not a minor detail when it comes to reading and interpreting this book.

In a sense, SESG Explorer is a corker of a book. Even though it is a fictional tale, it may even bring more clarity to a complex, much-written subject and topics than some historians and fictional writers manage to do in books three or four times as long.

The narrative is presented in a dialogue-based form and it is well-developed. It is a captivating fantasy adventure with relatable protagonists. The play on words makes it a brilliant science fiction and far-out world-building.

“SESG Explorer” by Christopher Loric is a fictional story that could definitely be real some day. The United States sents a fleet of ships on a diplomatic mission in order to travel to planet faraway from the planet earth. They do this because they have received a message from that planet. Once arrived they meet the ones living on that planet called Kammorriga. These living beings plan on conquering other planets. This fact makes human realize the danger that awaits in the galaxy. This is a plot I truly enjoyed. I love everything that has to do with life on other planets and I find it amazing to imagine how much could be out there. Things we could never dream about. I personally recommend it

Retired US Navy CDR Christopher Loric makes an impressive literary debut with SESG EXPLORER - the initial book in a planned series. In this action packed novel Loric creates credible science fiction, reflecting his obvious passion for space travel and solar system possibilities. (SESG equals Space Expeditionary Strike Group) He captures attention as the novel opens: ‘Capt Shura looked around his bridge. All he could see through the smoke were electrical fires, smashed monitors, control boards, and worse of all, dead crewmembers. He looked down at his own smashed and bloody leg where a bracer had collapsed onto it…He set his lips in a hard, defiant grin knowing that his own ship’s destruction enabled the rest of the SESG to escape…’ From that visually plausible opening this story explores space travel in response to messages from another endangered planet and the unique and compelling manner in which the tale is related introduces a fine new author - and an especially inviting space sci-fi series. The author, Christopher Loric, presents us with "SESG Explorer", a very good science fiction book about space fleets, where a fleet of ships on a diplomatic mission is sent to search for new worlds. While traveling to a planet from which they received a message, they meet the people of Kammorriga.

This science fiction is undoubtedly enjoyable from beginning to end. The scenes are very well described and the characters are very good too. As regards the plot, I think it's a bit common, but even so, the author managed to give it a twist. Certainly, that is super valuable and undoubtedly gives extra credit to the author.

I would like to read the continuation of the saga to know what happens to the characters!
