No Reflections

The best images come when there is no glass in the way, but for the times when there has to be - the ULH blocks out all reflections and lets you capture the moment perfectly.

By day, glare catches on windows, and at night reflections from inside the room completely ruin the image. Remove both of these with the ULH.

Nice idea, so-so execution...
Shooting through window glass is to be avoided at all costs -- but sometimes it cannot be helped. Taking photos from a skyscraper observation floor is a good example, store front displays would be another. So having a shade that blocks light reflections on the window surface is a must. A conventional rubber lens hood can work well, but typically you can only use it to shoot straight ahead and not at an angle. That's where this floppy lens hood comes in, and I do mean floppy! Instead of using a conventional set of filter threads, this stretches over the end of your lens like putting on a shower cap. This is a clever design that help keeps the cost low, rather than having to make and stock a set of standard filter size lens threads. So apparently the "ULHgo" featured here is the original, so I assume the others you'll find on Amazon are knockoffs. I thought I would save some money buying the least expensive knockoff, but a review mentioned that light from behind can be seen through the folds of the hood. So I decided I'd pay more for the original to have a higher quality product. Guess what? You can see light through the folds on this hood as well. (See photo.) Now if the interior lighting is relatively dim, and the outdoor is bright, this will not be a problem. But if you are trying to shoot something like a city scape at night from inside of a normally lite interior, this is not going to work if you have to shoot at an angle to the glass, or your lens is wide and is held away from the glass. So bottom line, neat idea, not suitable for all anticipated use cases, and the quality may not be significantly better than the cheaper knockoffs, although it may be more resistant to tearing. In my case, I decided to return it, but it might work out for you.The star ratings are always in relation to the item's intended purpose, type, and durability.5 stars - The item is perfect with no room for meaningful improvement. The item performs its intended function consistently, and without fail. It also appears to be durable in its manufacture and materials.4 stars - While not perfect, any imperfections are likely to go unnoticed in normal use. The item should be durable given normal care and handling.3 stars - The item has significant short comings or limitations, but these do not significantly degrade performance. And/or the item may not be durable if not handled with some degree of care.2 stars - The item has defects or short comings that compromise performance. And/or the item may be likely to fail prematurely even with careful use.1 star - The item does not function correctly in any meaningful way or is very difficult or even hazardous to use. And/or the item failed completely with very little use.

Absolute junk; just barely resembles pictures and videos on Amazon. Knock-off Chinese junk; too small a diameter for 77mm lens without cutting it, too big a diameter if you do cut it. Way shallower and flimsier than the device on Amazon, so it won't do what is shown in the video. No carrying case, no instructions, no name brand, wadded in a ball, shipped straight from China. If there were a way to give zero stars I would have. Amazon should screen the products they sell direct from China, as this is just junk, and I waited 17 days to get it. I will be returning it to Amazon, they can figure out how to get it back to China....

5.0 out of 5 stars Super praktisch bei Busrundreisen!
Reviewed in Germany on February 2, 2021

4.0 out of 5 stars It works
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 6, 2022
I purchased this for use in photography from tall glass fronted buildings to remove reflections that ruin an image.

As one can see though the images (taken from the Shard) are not identically framed one can see the value of the hood in the second image in removing reflections (thus not having to painstakingly removed them in Photoshop).

The sole issues are getting the hood onto the lens body which can be awkward. The silicone material attracts an inordinate amount of fluff and dirt so needs to be washed regularly.

Also given that we only have two hands it can be hard to work the lens hold the camera body while keeping the hood rim firmly pressed against angled or curved glass. This more so for those with smaller hands such as myself.

But overall it works well. One other thing security may be suspicious of such an item as they were at the Shard. However the staff at the viewing platform are more than happy to allow one to use such an item.
