Product Description

Anatomy of the HyperReef LED Spectrum

395nm: Unlocks additional fluorescence in fish and corals.

400-450nm: Rebalancing the cluster with more blue and deep blue increases fluorescence, color rendition, and provides a new level of tunability in the blue spectrum between crisp and actinic.

665nm: Appropriate use of long wavelength diodes provide light output useful for coral photosynthesis as well as visual color balancing.

How Much PAR Do I Need for Coral?

Soft Corals (zoanthids, palythoa, mushrooms and leathers): 50-150 PAR

LPS Corals: 50-150 PAR

Hard Corals (stony corals, small polyp stony): 200-500 PAR

Most corals can adapt to a wide range of different light levels when given proper time to acclimate. So we suggest you choose a light which can bring a suitable range for the special type of coral, then observe coral growth and adjust to the best spectrum.

Compatible with HyperReef Controller

Hassle-free to set an auto program for your lights with the controller. Different spectrums can be set at six time points to create a gradual lighting effect for a whole day.

How to install the controller with HyperReef LED

NICREW HyperReef Light Controller (Sold Separately) can be compatible with HyperReef 50, HyperReef 100 and HyperReef 150. HyperReef 30 is not compatible, please use NICREW dual-channel timer for controlling.

Great System!
I took this photo with my phone, but just to show the depth the lights penetration of the light through the tank. My tank is 48" long, 24" wide, and 30" deep. I am super pleased with the quality of light, and the ability to control the intensity. I do not have the remote control for the lights but plan on purchasing that later. I tried plugging the cable in to link the two lights together, it turned one light box white, and the other blue, then the lights would not change color. I am thinking that the remote can control that. It was easy enough for me though to just keep them separate but plug them into a timed outlet. My only frustration is that I can't set the lights to different intensities through the day, again, the remote could fix that.

100 watt. This reef tank is just over 110 days old I got this light fixture as an upgrade about 3 months ago and have had much better luck. The growth on my corals has been good overall and the the spectrum is great for coloration and visibility of fish. This light gets really bright and projects a bit warm it will increase surface Temps for sure. The sound of the fan is minimal and intermittent. It blends in with my other equipment noise. I actually use 40% blue 20% white video I goofed.
3 month ish review
I reccomend it! powerful enough for me it remembers its setting has option for a purchase controller thing if ya really want.
The price is unbeatable if you're thinking of spending 70-100 go for this its way worth.

Latest Update- I contacted customer service and they sent me a new power unit which was what was malfunctioning. Everything is working well now and I’m very pleased. Great customer service, great light, my corals are looking great and showing growth. Updated- after only being in use for month this light has stopped working. That makes it a waste of money. I have bought three for my 120 gallon tank and in less than a month one is out already so I’m sure that the other two are not far behind. I will contact the company hopefully they have something good to tell me.
Update #2- Great customer service and they replace the part that was broken and now the lights are working great again.
UPDATE AFTER A FEW MONTHS: The first thing I want to say is that I stand by my assertion that this is the top of the line reef light that you can get for this price. The only thing I wanna caution you on is to make sure that you rent an PAR meter from your local fish store to check the settings on your units. I never did that and when I went and rented one and checked it I was getting over 700 par right below the waterline and over 400 at the bottom of the tank which is WAY too high. I had to make major adjustments (raising the lights) and I can only run these lights on medium (that’s on a 6 foot 125 gallon tank.) too much PAR is just as bad as not enough or maybe even worse in terms of bleaching or burning up your corals. You can’t beat the price on this even though they don’t have all the fancy timer functions and everything.

What an awesome light. It's definetly not a scam. It's a real coral light and ice had it for about a year now with great coral growth. Don't forget to buy the remote to open up an array of commands and schedules. It also has a virtually soundless fan to cool the light.

4/5 stars so far.

I have 30 years in this hobby now.

It's rather bulky for its power capacity losing it a star.

I have Kessil a80 tuna on most my nanos which is an amazingly clean small look and couldn't afford that on this budget build.

This is comparable at a fraction of the cost with some bulk.

It's only 50watts. Reef's should be running 4 to 8 W /Gallon. Some of my stony corals require 10 W a gallon. I put this on a 5g desk pico in my game room. Purchased the controller with it. Use my PAR meter and was running some serious numbers with it dropped all the way down at 65%. I'm sure I'll have no problem running lps & sps with this on a 5 gallon. Anything more than a 10 gallon and you're probably running at 100% capacity and not getting PAR needed for those corals so suggested for 10g or lower.

****Highly suggest getting the controller with this light.

I will update my review in June or July of 2024 or sooner if it fails.

I was skeptics of purchasing this unit based on some reviews but I do know some people assume to much of a product. This is literally a lower end product with high end capacity if not abused.

Always buy bigger than what you need, the fan has not kicked in on this thing yet for me but I only run it at about 45% of its capacity max for 2 hours a day the rest is 20% or less. I'm sure anything over 80% would cause issues and I will keep updated throughout the months. There's a bunch of light settings so stoked on that as I showed in the photos.

The difference between these lights and a very expensive one just comes down to quality. P

If you're on a budget then these are more than suffice for any reef up to 10 gallons for a general basic, making it actually a bulky light for what it is but none the less performs so far.

Suggested tank sizes:

10-20 gallon. LOW LIGHT CORAL (mushroom etc)

10gallon: LOW TO MID LIGHT CORAL (some lps & maybe some sps)

5gallon: HIGH POWER - LPS & MOST SPS will thrive.

PRO's:
- $1000 setup for $200
- controller can run 3rd party units that use USB C
- when used on a pico you can actually get 600-800PAR and run SPS.
- ease of use with controller once figured out.
- couple extra save settings
- manual ramp controls with controller
- plug and forget unit.

CON'S
- bulky for what it is.
- potential for overheat at 80% + capacity
- controller is extra
- not as many customizable features without controller.
- no app connect

I have nicrew lights in my FW tanks over 2 years those came cheap and are super value. when i switched iver to Saltwater tanks I needed one within my budget
I already have a Phlizon , on my bigger tank. but thats too much for my 20g. Checked a couple and returned, but really liked the Nicrew 30w
- i run these auto on a kasa smart plug which is timer based, saves settings as last time so dont need the wifi timer
-great light (thats the most imp feature , i rerurned a lomini pixie 30 , was not sufficient)
- This should be great for corals, I like the blue theme
- will set the brightness based on par requirements when i get the corals i want for this 20(yet to get them),this can get so much more brighter than in the photo
-doesnt break the bank
