An instant New York Times bestseller

From the globally-recognized personal finance educator and social media star behind Her First $100K, an inclusive guide to all things money—from managing debt to investing and voting with your dollars

Tori Dunlap was always good with money. As a kid, she watched her prudent parents balance their checkbook every month and learned to save for musical tickets by gathering pennies in an Altoids tin. But she quickly discovered that her experience with money was pretty unusual, especially among her female friends.

It wasn’t our fault. Investigating this financial literacy and wealth gap, Tori found that girls are significantly less likely to receive a holistic financial education; we’re taught to restrain our spending, while boys are taught about investing and rewarded for pursuing wealth. In adulthood, women are hounded by the unfounded stereotype of the frivolous spenders whose lattes are to blame for the wealth gap. And when something like, say, a global pandemic happens, we’re the first to have jobs cut and the last to re-enter the workforce. It's no wonder money is a source of anxiety and a barrier to equality for so many of us.

But what if money didn't mean restriction, and instead, choice? The ability to luxuriously travel, quit toxic jobs, donate to important organizations, retire early? The freedom to live the life you want, and change the world while you do it?

Tori founded Her First $100K to teach women to overcome the unique obstacles standing in the way of their financial freedom. In Financial Feminist, she distills the principles of her shame- and judgment-free approach to paying off debt, figuring out your value categories to spend mindfully, saving money without monk-like deprivation, and investing in order to spend your retirement tanning in Tulum.

You will learn:

- Exercises to help you understand your current relationship with money, figure out what you want to change, and how to make that happen

- How to decide on your investment goal, and discover the three steps to meeting it

- Learn how to source the data you need to negotiate the money you deserve

Featuring journaling prompts, deep-dives into the invisible aspects of the financial landscape, and interviews with experts on everything money—from predatory credit card companies to the racial wealth gap and voting with your dollars—Financial Feminist is the ultimate guide to making your money work harder for you (rather than the other way around.)

Tori makes it easy
Tori is the bomb, since she came and spoke at my work via zoom, I’ve since taken her investing 101 course, bought this book for myself, my friend and have 3-4 more I want to get it for, and purchased several other courses she offers. Tori makes it EASY to understand finance- an industry that typically has a bunch of BS jargon that makes it nerve wracking to dive in. I seriously wish this had been around years ago. I LOVE how candid and fierce she is. Thank you for helping boost my confidence in finance and take steps to protect my future!

if you’re seeking a simple, actionable step-by-step guide to building financial stability, this is it. it’s the first finance book i’ve read (one of many) that provided a clear path forward. though it’s money advice you’ve likely heard, tori’s telling provides CONFIDENCE & clarity, both of which are invaluable.

while i appreciated her perspective on uplifting females as a whole, i don’t think that’s where the book shines. for me, the value came from the homework assignments + how succinct & clear the financial advice was. i now know exactly how to move forward — assured i have a PLAN that will take me to where i want to be — something i’ve never been able to confidently devise before due to confusing, conflicting financial advice. thank you, tori! i wish i had this information years ago.

i’ll be gifting this book to friends in the spirit of wanting my loved ones (men included!) to feel more confident, secure, & wise when it comes to building financial stability in a doable way.

One thing I particularly appreciated after reading this was the realization that I was doing better than I thought. As I was reading this book it occurred to me that I am so insecure about my own finances that I wasn't even recognizing how OK I was doing. She talks about our relationship to money in such a thoughtful way and it really helped me wrap my brain around that. I also took away some great tips.

The money advice is solid and accessible but also I like the social interpretation of how and why money acts like it does in modern American/western economies. The tone is definitely geared to millenial and Gen Z readers.

The first chapter of the book focuses on the relationship with money and how it came to be, and that is what sets this book apart. It helped me so much and I've gifted and recommended it to so many people. I also held a book club with my colleagues and we all saw the benefits in our business. I still keep my "money dates" with myself every month.

This book has truly changed my life. I’ve read many financial books written by men, but only a handful by women. Growing up in a challenging family dynamic with a single mom, I vividly remember sitting at the kitchen table, watching her struggle to pay bills with money we never seemed to have. That memory has woven itself into every aspect of my life, not just finances.

This book helped me understand that pattern and, instead of plowing ahead and repeating mistakes, I can now move forward with awareness. I’ve also shed the guilt around spending money on essentials that simply come with being a woman—tampons, razors, makeup, lotion—all the things men rarely think about. She revealed the cost expectations placed on women, especially in professional settings, in a way that felt like a weight lifted.

She is incredible. I’m now working toward financial independence with open eyes and a lighter heart. Thank you.

This book is great for people wanting to change their lifestyles around but aren't sure where to start. The information is presented in a way that works for young people or older people, and people who have some financial savvy or those with none. Since I have started it, it has made me realize a lot about myself and also open up to talking to others about money. I'm retired military from a rural area in the South, and I still work with a lot of military people.

I am going to be buying this book for so many others! A lot of us grew up and no one really discussed money or plans or how to handle adult stuff like this. The mindset of the author is so good, and she is active across social media as well. I think where other financial advisors may have missed the mark, this one is perfect for a variety of people. It is focused on females, but if you can open your mind it would work for anyone.
