Mark Nicholson, known as "The Battery Man" because of his focus on criminal battery cases, is a criminal defense and personal injury lawyer in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born and raised in New Castle, Indiana, he served in the United States Army and is a combat veteran. While in college, he was involved in a barroom brawl that resulted in murder charges- for which he spent over a decade in prison.

After being released from prison, he was homeless. Although still homeless and on parole from prison, he got accepted into law school and became an attorney. He now practices criminal defense and personal injury law. He is a fierce advocate for his clients and always puts their best interests first.

Despite his difficult past, Mark remains positive and helps others.

I love reading and writing! I am the owner and CEO of the Law Office of Mark Nicholson. Previously, I worked as a Marion County Civil Court Bailiff and a law clerk for the American Civil Liberties Union. At the Indiana State Public Defender Office, I worked as a law clerk then an attorney. Additionally, I was an assistant supervisor at the Marion County Public Defender Agency. I helped train and supervise attorneys.

I practice mainly in the areas of criminal law, representing people accused of misdemeanors, felonies, traffic offenses, probation violations and drug crimes.I also practice and have an interest in the area of family law, civil litigation, personal injury, small claims and Civil Rights and discrimination.

I am a motivational speaker and have spoken at various non-profit organizations and for profit businesses. I have spoken at various colleges, churches, jails, prisons, veteran organizations, graduations, Eli Lilly, legal conferences and various other functions. I have been featured in the December 2015 issue of Indianapolis Monthly, the Fall 2012 issue of the ACLU's Carrying the Torch, the August 3-16, 2011 issue of Indiana Lawyer and various other news outlets.

I am a military combat veteran and assist veterans in receiving the benefits they earned. Also, I am a certified Kansas City Barbecue Society Judge and former member of the United States Parachute Association.

I serve on the Board of Directors for the Hoosier Veterans Assistance Foundation (HVAF).

I found this book at a local bookstore. It was rather inexpensive and seemed interesting enough. However, the book was pedesterian at best.

The informaiton provided is generally available online. Do not waste time or money on The Law: From Prison to The Street.

I am amazed by the author, Mark Nicholson! He has an incredible story and he shares parts of his journey with his readers in The Law: From Prison to the Street. This book provides great insight to help us understand our rights and to recognize when they have been violated. It is an absolute must-read if you want to be educated and inspired. I look forward to reading more literary works from Mark Nicholson!
