- Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2011Written in a friendly, accessible and motivating style - as if Darryl was standing up in front of you - guiding and coaching you in that most challenging and rewarding game and power struggle of parenting 5-12 years olds. The book is also well and truly useful for parents of precocious 3 year olds, to ease parents into what they can expect over the coming years, months, weeks, days. It's a useful tool which encourages parents to "re-parent" themselves in a "no-nonsense", "get-on-with-it" style.
While always compassionate, Darryl's voice is a strong, powerful and authorative one that coaches parents to take control and set boundaries and all-important rules, where they can all while surrendering to the beauty and wonder of their children. His advice will assist with building a loving relationship with one's children that will last a lifetime...
- Reviewed in the United States on March 17, 2010As a parent of a strong minded and strong willed 4 year old girl, I am grateful to Daryl for providing me with a foundation to approach the many challenges of raising children. I found his advice and writing style entertaining, thought provoking and most importantly applicable. I particularly appreciated the chapter summaries. This book is a must read for any parent. I now feel better equipped to provide discipline and positive direction.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2009This would have to be the best 'how to' book for child raising I've seen. It is most insightful and offers an abundance of practical advice. It focuses on the entire being of the child, not just the behavior. It also keeps us, as parents in check and reminds us of the paramount role we play as parents. I particularly appreciated the summary pages at the end of each chapter. Thanks Darryl!
