Four years ago Jessica Taylor thought she was ready to leave small town living behind and headed West. Now she's back in Cedar Creek, a little older, a lot wiser, and ready to live the quiet life for a while.

It's been eight months since her fiancée walked out and shattered Grace Donnelly's dreams of a happily ever after. Her friends tell her it's time to start living again, but the breakup with Emma was still just too raw for Grace to wash her hands and move on.

After a chance meeting at her brother's bakery, Jessica finds herself unable to get Grace off of mind. She's sure she feels an attraction from Grace as well, but will Jessica be able to convince Grace to stop living in the past and take a chance on a future together with her...

The Scent of Jasmine has one of the best opening lines! Any book that can have me laughing just from the first line is a keeper. This is a short read (need a longer Lila Bruce novel please) but fun. I love Jessica and Grace. It flowed well, it had engaging characters. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I also love the cover. I want a sequel please. Want to find out more about Jessica and Grace.

This is the tale of an Interior Decorator Grace, and a Hot Sauce Mogul, Jessica. Both of the women have no desire to meet anyone after their last relationships. Jessica has just moved back to her home town after the death of her mother. Needing the place to be re-done, she hires Grace. Maybe with the instant attraction they have met someone anyway.

This is a sweet and fast read. It was quite enjoyable with a good plot line before the inevitable sex scene. It is a perfect book to take to the beach or for a lazy afternoon on the patio. Enjoy it, I know I did!

Jessica returns home after inheriting her Grandmothers home. Grace is still recovering from being dumped by her finance via text. Could they find a reason to be more than friends? Recommend this book and author.

    **** short story / 56 pages ****
    F/F romance

Aside from too many missing words and the occasional half sentence that didn't make any sense, the writing is actually pretty decent and engaging. There are some overdone scenes and details that could have been evened out (Who gets that angry over cinnamon rolls?) and I don't need to know one lead has green eyes THAT many times, etc etc. But the characters are likable and the storyline and sex scene was okay. The "let's wait" ending wasn't very logical. But the opening was strong enough to give me hope that this author would write a pretty good book after a few more tries. I'm also partial to new southern writers... I want to see more of their stories out there!

I'm willing to check out her other stories as they come out to some degree, but not if they continue to be overpriced and poorly edited. (As far as I'm concerned, indie books with editing issues should be free or not more than .99 cents.) In any case, I'd love to see a full-length novel from this author.

Falling slowly is one of my favorite books by Lila Bruce and this book doesn't disappoint either. I wasn't actuall ready for it to end so quickly but it's not like it leaves you with unanswered questions. I sometimes just don't like to say goodbye to characters that I like. Looking forward to starting the next Lila Bruce book.

Great read and funny but hoping for a sequel I'd love to see the struggle to keep their agreement in tact till July. And maybe have Emma come back and realize what she let go and lost to Jessica

I bought this one because I read "Falling Slowly" by the same author. It was a really short story but it was fun. The only thing I have to say is that some sentences didn't mean anything and that was a bit disturbing.

This is kind of an étude, a riff on love going right. The story plays out well and though it might seem on the brief side, it's not rushed and it's deeply satisfying. Like the best...you know.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is an incredibly beautifully well written short story

This is an incredibly beautifully well written short story. Grace is such a likable character. Easy to empathize with after her financee dumps her by text. I mean REALLY???? Then comes along beautiful Jessica like a soothing balm for Grace's battered and bruised psyche. This story goes to show you can create a lot of sexual heat and tension just by being subtle.
