I have been looking for a camp chair for a very long time. My aunt happened to come to our campsite the other night and brought her own chairs (these). On Monday, I came home and ordered it right away!
If you are looking for a chair that doesn't feel like a sling and gives back support, this is a great chair. My husband prefers the sling chairs, but I don't. It is all a matter of preference. I prefer these!

I can't say enough good things about ALPS and the design/durability of this chair. It is extremely comfortable and durable-- I have one that is at least 5 years old and still going strong after plenty of trips to the desert, the beach, the gun range, the backyard for kids parties, etc., etc., etc.-- how many camping chairs can you say that about??? My only complaint about it is that the foam on the arms will tear pretty much as soon as you stow it for the first time and it rubs up against another item... but the rest of the quality is so great I'm not lowering my star rating. Now when I buy these for my growing family, I literally just take a box knife and cut the arm rest foam off and forget about it-- the arms are still comfortable with smooth aluminum underneath. If you absolutely have to have cushioned arm rests (like my wife) then I would advise to wrap the arms in a durable tape (duct tape if you don't care how it looks) before the foam has a chance to get torn off. The other thing to be aware of is that these fold flat, not into a tube shape, so just be aware of this when planning to transport them, as they do take up a lot more room than the cheapy camp chairs that everyone has and complains about being uncomfortable and pieces of junk. These are quality-- get one for each member of your family!

We were using the fold up in a bag type camping chairs. On a whim we've bought two inexpensive director type chairs last camping season to see if we liked them better. No one wanted to use the old chairs, so this season I decided we needed two more. I looked at the less expensive chairs but people complained about the stitching on the backs pulling loose and the chair being unusable. The back on these chairs don't have the same material configuration and so that seem pulling out is a non-issue. The metal on these chairs is very sturdy. The material thick and of a great quality. They sit a bit lower to the ground than my other chairs, which I'm thrilled about being only 5' 2". My husband who is 6' 2" found them very comfortable and didn't mind they weren't as tall as the others. The back on our cheaper chairs is stick straight, which works for sitting at the camp table, but not so comfortable to just sit around. The back on these chairs tilts back slightly so I expect them to be a bit more comfortable for sitting. Like another reviewer stated, they are heavy, so you don't want to carry them a long distance, but this type of chair when folded is bulky and difficult to carry anyways. I wouldn't be carting my cheap light ones around either. These are more expensive than some of the other chairs on Amazon, but are well worth their price. I highly recommend them.

I have been looking for a chair I can use at the beach that isn't a beach chair. Beach chairs are short and I can't get in and out easily because of a bad knee. I had bought one and it's super nice but I stopped using it because of the in and out problem. I wanted something sturdy, that I could still carry, and under 10 lbs this fits the bill. The bar legs work like a beach chair and chair is super comfortable. My son set it up in the living room and everyone has been sitting in it to watch TV.

The weight capacity is 425 lbs, it's very roomy, wide and would be good for a wider person, but it's equally comfortable for me., I just think it's that well made in the framing. If you need a chair that has a high weight because you're heavy set, this would be great, but it's also great for smaller sizes.

The material is very comfortable and fits tautly on the frame without pulling. There is a cute little holder for a drink but it's not a cooler or anything.

This is a super nice comfortable chair that works great for the beach.

My wife and I just got our chairs this week and used them for the first time last night.

The chairs sit fairly straight up, which is what we wanted. A number of our previous chairs (for the soccer fields) sat too far back, almost reclined. These were much more comfortable and don't pinch your legs, either (no bar right under your knees). I also like that they don't have a bag. How much of our lives are spent trying to put a 10 square foot chair into a 9.93 square foot bag???!! Tired of that. No more. These fold up and are easy to carry. A handle might be nice, but I just turn them upside down and carry by the bottom bars. Works fine. These are pretty heavy duty chairs. I weigh almost 3 bills and it will easily support that, much more I would imagine. They aren't light, but they're not heavy, either. They're about like the other big-man type fold-up chairs I've bought. Overall, we really like the chairs save ONE ISSUE:

My issue with these chairs is in the way you set up and take down the back support. When you fold the chair out, the back has to be lifted up and secured with two aluminum pieces. These pieces, on both our chairs, were WAY too tight. I could barely get them in there with all my weight, then when we left, we couldn't get two of the four out. I struggled on the soccer field for about 15 minutes trying to wiggle them and get them out. I finally got them out, but only after a TON of effort, pain, sweat and tears!!!

I took the chairs to the garage today and used a portable belt grinder to grind down the pegs on the back support. I took quite a bit of metal off and they fit better, but are still fairly tight. I'm no lightweight man, most humans I know couldn't possibly remove these pegs. I have no idea why they'd make these so tight. I hope mine are fixed now. We'll find out today as my son has a soccer tournament.

Good luck. I'd recommend the chairs ONLY if you don't mind doing a little metal work when you get them. Otherwise you better have forearms like Popeye to take the chair down.

I have been wasting my money on 20 dollar chairs for 5 years or so and they all die within a year or two. This chair is really sturdy AND it can be taken apart to repair if necessry. Even all the stress points for the fabric are on a bar or have a wide rounded portion in the back rest. Very comfy too! They are pricey but it is going to last , I am not buying anymore cheap chairs going forward that's for sure! Get what you pay for
