    Product Description

HyperX Cloud II features a newly designed USB sound card audio control box that amplifies audio and voice for an optimal Hi Fi gaming experience, so you can hear what you’ve been missing. Open up a world of detail other gamers will never know — the rustle of a camper’s boot, the scuttle in a distant vent. This next generation headset generates virtual 7.1 surround sound with distance and depth to enhance your gaming, movie or music experience. The headset must be selected as the default audio device in your sound settings. For Windows: 1. Open up Control Panel and select Hardware and Sound and then select Sound. 2. If the “HyperX 7.1 Audio” is not currently the default audio device, right click on the option and select “Set as Default Device.” 3. This should place a green check mark next to the default audio device. Repeat the same steps for the microphone portion of the headset, located under the “Recording” tab (also found in the Sound program in Control Panel.) For Mac: 1. Click the Apple menu and select “System Preferences” from the drop down menu. 2. In “System Preferences”, click on the ‘Sound’ icon. 3. Click on the Input tab and select “HyperX 7.1 Audio” for default sound input. 4. Click on the Output tab and select “HyperX 7.1 Audio” for default sound output. Note: The headset may appear as "USB audio" instead of "HyperX 7.1 Audio". Hear the rich, impactful sounds of your games with clarity and precision.

    Sounds Great
Overall, I give it a 4. I never used the mic. So I can't speak on its quality. But the headsets sound quality itself, is really impressive. It gets plenty loud, it’s clear, with plenty of Bass. For console and PC. And the little 7.1 button makes a great difference! Precise location in COD The build quality at first seemed to be very solid and rigid. Until the other day when it cracked as seen in photo. Even now all tied up, it still feels nice and solid on my head. I tried supergluing with a C-clamp, but it didn’t stick. (Cheap glue and not long enough cure time) I tied it with some sewing string and it’s holding well enough. I will be buying the Cloud III once this is unrepairable, in hopes that it’s a bit stronger! I still recommend if you looking for a cheap great sounding headset!

I've owned a few other turtle beach and other headsets to compare to give this feedback review. There are things you know about the hyperx kingcloud:

      1) it's wired. For PC and movie users you do get 7.1 surround sound using the sound usb card given in the package. However for Xbox 1 and ps4 owners it 3.5 jacks right into the controller, and because of this I don't believe you get 7.1, but probably 5.1 Dolby or even analog. The wiring is quite nice. It's laced in a vinyl cording making ideally better than any other wired anything that I owned before.

      2) it comes with an extra earmuffs to switch out from the pleather feel to a velvet type, which I don't believe is worth switching out, but that's just my opinion.

      3) noise cancelling: the memory foam covers your entire ear and I have big ears. So while you're playing your game or movie, I want you to know you don't hear anyone outside the headset.

      4) extreme comfort: so I binge one day of gaming...like 12 hours on my days off. With my other headsets I get slight headaches and sometimes my ears hurt. Not with these. They are incredibly comfortable and no pain after hours of gaming.

      Extras:

For the console, since you jack it into the controller there's no volume or mix amp controls other than going into your sound menu, so once you're in the game, that's it. It is possible to plug the usb portion into your console, but I'm not sure if it gives you 7.1 surround, and when I tried this method the mic doesn't work at all.

      Conclusion:

The $100 I paid for this item is worth the buy. I could see why it is highly reviewed. I'm usually skeptic and find something wrong with the headset. I suppose time will tell. I'll update this next time in case something happens. I'm actually satisfied with the performance.

      *update 12/23/15

So I'm an idiot. The usb sound card does work for console. I just tested the mic this time around because I was tired of the black out noise when connected to the controller. All the parts work, so now I'm enjoying the 7.1 surround.

Also I tried the extra ear cushions that come with the headset. The original ones are faux leather and the extras are this velvet soft memory foam material. They are extremely comfortable compared to the faux leather. If you ever tested A40s, that's pretty much how they feel like. But there's a drawback with the velvet cushions. They don't block out as much noise as the faux leather. I play in a noisy house, and noise cancelling is a must rather than comfort.

This will actually be the first Amazon review I've ever wrote. I’m writing this because of how strongly I feel about what happened to me with these headsets.

You get allot for your money with these. They come with a removable noise canceling condenser mic w/ pop filter, both leatherette and velour ear pads, a 3.5 MM cable to allow you to plug into mobile devices, a nice carrying bag, airplane adapter (not sure who still needs that) and a 7.1 USB sound card. The sound signature is similar to my Sennheiser 558’s but with a smaller sound stage and a little more base when wearing the leatherette pads. As expected, wearing the leatherette gets a little warm but still not as hot as most headsets I’ve worn that use leatherette. They were still very soft and comfortable with not too much clamping force. Depending on head size, mileage may vary. Switching to the velour pads took away some base but opened the sound stage a slight bit and were a little cooler to wear. They also were not as noise isolating

It did well in microphone tests. I used them with my built in Realtek sound card and a USB sound card from the Logitech G330. The sound was clear but had a slight hiss to it. That is most likely due to the noise cancellation. My Vmoda Boom Pro mic produced a richer sound but it also picks up the hum from my computer fans. Believe it or not I got the clearest sound when used with my Nexus 9 tablet. This just goes to show you that no matter how good your mic is, it is very dependent on the sound card it is connected to.
Speaking of sound cards, you are probably wondering why I didn't test it with the included sound card or reviewed the 7.1 audio that this has. That is because mine would not load its drivers. I am using Windows 7 x64 and after plugging it in I got a message saying “USB device not recognized”. I called Kingston support and they were very friendly and helpful. He asked if I had another machine to connect it to. I just happened to have just reloaded my old gaming rig with a fresh copy of Win 7 x64. So we tried that. I didn't get the same message but it was still showing as an “Unknown Device” in the device manager. He deemed that the adapter was broken and sent me over to the RMA department. I was told there that I was going to be sent a cable extender, a splitter and a mouse pad. Confused, I made sure we were talking about the same product. She apologized and explained that this equipment was only yo get me through until I received the replacement adapter. Unfortunately she said that it was going to take 2 MONTHS to get that replacement.

In conclusion, these are some very good headsets that have audiophile grade sound to them. I am very disappointed though at the manufacturing issues that they seem to be having and can’t give this the 5 stars that I really want to give them. A two month wait to get a replacement part that was broken out of the box is unacceptable to me.

      (UPDATE)

So, I spoke with Jewel from Tech Support and she already had a new sound card adapter shipping out to me. That being said I happened to take the headset to work so I could try them out on a third computer. Lo and behold, they worked! As soon as I got home I tried them out using the USB ports in the back of my computer (previously I had used the front ports) and the drivers began to load. That's when I spoke to Jewel and had her stop the RMA shipment. We are figuring in that the front ports don't supply enough power to drive the adapter.

I am changing my stars to five. They are a comfortable headset with great sound. I even enjoyed the 7.1 now that I could hear it. And although very good, I'd like to see an improvement in the microphone. It would be nice to see an audiophile grade headset with a mic that is the level of a ModMic or something that doesn't cost $300. But hey, there's always the HyperX Cloud III.

Great Support, speedy service. Thank you Jewel and Kingston.

5.0 out of 5 stars ... of my first major headsets - I feel very happy for the quality of the product and the price ...
Reviewed in Canada on June 8, 2015
Color: Gun metalStyle: WiredPattern: HeadsetVerified Purchase
One of my first major headsets - I feel very happy for the quality of the product and the price paid (a bit over 100 with shipping). From background researching headsets currently available, this one appears to be the best purchase for a mid-high range headset that does not feature full surround sound. If you are looking for surround sound as a must have, this does have simulated 7.1 (which is okay, see below) but expect to pay an extra 100 dollars if you want a same quality headset featuring full surround sound!

      First Impressions:
The product came in a well packed shipping box - no damage. The outer product box detailing the specs of the headset opens to reveal a very stylish, slick looking box with a subtle, glossy HyperX logo. Lifting the top off the box revealed indulgent foam packing, presenting the headset and it's accessories in elegant style. The packaging alone made me feel like I had bought something worthwhile with a lot of care and thought put into the experience of unboxing, and storage. The box itself is nice enough that I'm hanging on to it for future use (and storage of the headphones if need be).

First Tests: I started by plugging the headset fresh out of box into my phone and putting on a range of music - the sound quality is phenomenal. After using the stock headphones that come with phones, and higher quality ear buds, this set gives such a rich experience that I'm quite blown away with the overall sound. All sound ranges are audible and present a full bodied suite of balance options with devices that allow you to mix.

I then plugged the headphones into my high performance laptop and listened to another sample body of music - sound quality again was great, and my motherboard sound processing really gave a bit of extra juice to the head set that the phone did not provide (noticeable, but they still worked excellently well on the phone). Using my mixing options on the computer I put the headphones through their paces with full ranges of balance and they held up across the board.

In terms of a general purpose listening headset, these give quite the bang for buck - may other revues talk about these being audiophile level quality, and I would have to agree.

      Gaming Test + Mic:
I plugged the headset into my laptop again and hit up a few games - alone then with friends.

Solo: Again the headset performs to impress - the games sounded new and fresh, I heard familiar scenes/sounds in games with a whole new light. Everything from loading music to in game audio of reloading, shooting, character voices, and ambient atmosphere became not only more apparent, but completely engrossing and impressive. You can finally hear the real quality and detail that sound engineers have put into games to make a fully immersive experience. Can't say enough how impressed I am.

Group + Mic: Voices and sound come through really well. The mic comes through very clear, though not professional recording quality, gamer approved quality for sure. My friends could immediately tell I had made a change to my set up by the way I sounded - for the better. Everyone agreed the mic quality was clear and ambient sounds around me were significantly muffled compared to an open mic.

Xbox One: I plugged these into my xbox One controller + stereo headset adapter. Again sound quality impressed me (Last Word in Destiny has so many bonus sounds that I hadn't heard before!) They may not be surround sound, but the soundstage certainly helps you pinpoint directionality of sounds when playing games.
Mic issue: As of right now, the mic does not work with Xbox One, this is a firmware 'issue', in so far as Microsoft has not updated their system to support the mic YET. I contacted Microsoft and I'm assured that all 3rd party headsets will have their specs updated into the console/controller and full mic functionality is coming.

      Comfort:
These are a dream to wear, super comfortable and the replaceable foam ear pads easily switch out for the included velour ear pads which are just as nice, and help keep your ears cool. The head band is also very generously padded. Super comfy to wear even over long periods of gaming/music or movies.

7.1 Surround sound and Included USB dongle:
My laptop's motherboard sound drivers do a completely comparable, if not all around better job than the dongle. You lose a lot of quality upon plugging in the dongle, the ability to control the sound from the dongle IS nice, but not worth the hit to sound quality.

That being said, if you have a slower PC or no real built in audio options, the Dongle can roughly match what my top of the line Asus can do. Remember that not every PC has built in, or quality sound cards that can drive this headset to its full potential - the dongle can bridge that gap - buyer beware if you already have good sound options in your PC the Dongle is not worth the extra money compared to the original cloud headphones. The differences are subtle but if you can grab these at the same cost - do so.

Overall: BUY THESE. Awesome headset if it's in your price range and no surround sound is not a deal breaker. For their price I doubt you could find a better all in one set up.

Hade ett par likadana som höll bra i 6 år, på sjunde året började konstlädret att vittra sönder (lurarna funkade lurarna lika bra för det), köpte ett par likadana eftersom jag är så nöjd och ville ha ett par nya fräscha.
