Can't believe apple actually made this. Nice product, get 'em while you can.
I've seen some reviews where people have mentioned issues with these things but I've been using mine with an apple OEM 85w MagSafe (1) adapter and it's worked perfectly on a 2016 MBP. Nice product and I have to give Apple credit for making/offering it.Gotta say though... it is ten bucks for a little piece of metal and it sounded like a lot at first but after using these and realizing that they breathe new life into all of the old magsafe (1) ac adapters out there (or at least the 85w models in my experience), they're well worth the price. You can stick one of these on an older AC adapter and walk out the door and know that you'll be able to connect to and power most apple laptops out there instead of having to lug around different adapters. And... it keeps all of those older ac adapters out of landfills for the time being and gives them a new lease on life. It's so unlike Apple to make a product that extends the usefulness of older devices as opposed to their usual seemingly planned obsolescence . Could this device signal a shift in Apple's approach to phasing out and not supporting anything over 5 years old in favor of making you throw out what you had that would've worked perfectly fine until a software update rendered the device useless or unable to run the most recent version of their operating system that you had to have to install the most recent version of Itunes, that you had to have to be able to restore a backup of your old iphone down onto the newest iiphone that you just purchased......Probably not.I'd grab some while you can cause I've tried to buy these at a couple of places locally and I think Apple realized their "mistake" already. They've been out of stock everywhere near me and one of the apple reps in the black shirts at a local best buy said he'd sold out of them and had no plans to get any more in stock, saying that he thought they were being discontinued.Get 'em while you can.
