Review
"It is a great book man, it really is." --Jim Florentine, 'That Metal Show'
"It was very painful to read, and very informative...being such a part of most of the years of Eric's KISS tenure, made me relive my years in the band with him. Naturally, a must read for any Eric fan." --Bruce Kulick, ex-Kiss guitarist
"Prato's book on Eric Carr was wonderful, read it twice. Stuff I never heard about before like Eric Singer ghosting on 'Hot in the Shade.' It's sad to see Carr was right about Singer replacing him. Lotsa good info, great job. I learned more from this book than I did from Ace's autobiography!" --Shandon Sahm, Meat Puppets drummer
"I am so grateful that people will have the chance to know the real Eric Carr, as I did." --Carrie Stevens (Eric Carr's girlfriend)
"For fans of KISS - from any era of their nearly 40 years together, this book is a must. The Eric Carr Story lays it all out, spoken by many of those who were actually there." --Greg Barbrick, blogcritics.org
"Prato hunts down a variety of pivotal characters in the KISS drummer's life...it is an insightful and touching look at Carr's life up until his death on November 24, 1991." --Steven Rosen, curledup.com
"The Eric Carr Story' takes you back to a great era of Kiss. Eric is an important piece of the Kiss puzzle." --Stone & Double T, WXRX, Rockford, IL
"The information presented is fascinating. It’s certainly mandatory for all Kiss fans. The quotes and stories come fast and furious." --JP, metal-rules.com

- Reviewed in the United States on February 17, 2012I've been a KISS fan since 1976, when I first discovered them at the age of 7. Like most kids at that age, I was immediately drawn to them because of the make-up and theatrics. I really started to appreciate their music more after Eric Carr joined the band, when I hit my teenage years. Eric stepped into what seemed to be an impossible situation, replacing a member of one of the most popular rock bands in history. He turned out to be a very important part of the band at a pivotal point in their career. He provided a spark and became the driving force of KISS as they headed into their second decade. More importantly, he did all of this with grace and humility, while forging a special bond to the fans. The book tells the story of Eric's 11 year career with KISS before his life was tragically cut short from cancer at the age of 41 in 1991. Quotes from the people closest to him give you an insider's look at not only his time with the band, but the man behind the rock star. Eric's talents didn't end with his proficiency as a drummer. His singing and writing ability were unfortunately only used sparingly in KISS. Although Eric was always grateful for his opportunity to be a part of KISS and for the love of the fans, the book addresses some of his artistic frustration with being a 'hired gun' for his years with the band. It also explores some of the insecurities he sadly felt, especially toward the end of his life. As a fan, I still miss his talents. Reading this book made me sad that I never had a chance to actually know him personally. From what everyone says, he was one of the nicest, sweetest and most genuine guys, a kind and generous soul. God bless you Eric...you'll always be loved and never be forgotten.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2013This Book is awesome. Eric has always been my favorite drummer from Kiss and I have read a lot about him in other KISS books but it was refreshing to get first hand experiences from some of the closest people in his life and read a book dedicated to him. Im glad Greg put this together. Eric was truly an amazing person and an awesome drummer. KISS was lucky to have him. A quick read and a MUST for all Eric fans! This book is written by about 40 people in Eric's close circle and less like a biography. I enjoyed this style but thought I wouldn't. I just had to keep flipping back to the front to see who each person was multiple times. Eddie Trunk rules! I love that guy. Color pics would have been great. Again highly recommended
- Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2015If you're looking for more insight into Eric Carr - this is for you. As a fan of KISS since 1976, though I don't like everything the band has done, I do like all eras. The one era that has provided the least amount of information is the 80's era which included Eric. I liked the approach taken by the author. Everything is laid out chronologically so it's easy to follow. KISS fans have always heard that Eric was the "salt of the earth" and there isn't anything in this book to disputes that (good for Eric). You will find very little "mudslinging". Just some nice stories told by those closest to him. The last couple of chapters can be a little tough or confusing because we all know how the story ends. I'm not going to defend Gene and Paul. I also will not bash them. Neither of them have really provided much in their books in regards to the last days of Eric's life so there still remains only one side of the story. As I said, if you're thirsty for more Eric Carr....here you go. Good read!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2012As a long time KISS fan, I found this book to be absolutely fascinating. I have read numerous books about KISS, but this is the only one I am aware of that so closely examines Eric Carr's time with the band. Additionally, the book offers detailed insight into what was going on behind the scenes in KISS during this period. Excellent comments from Bill Aucoin, Bruce Kulick, Carrie Stevens, Eddie Trunk, and many others made the book a very personal study of Eric's short life. I highly recommend this book to any KISS fan, or any music fan for that matter.
This is a well researched, well written book that should not be missed. More than 20 years after the premature passing of Eric Carr, this book serves to document the life and times of Eric Carr during his tenure with KISS.
The best $20 I have spent in a long time!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2017I was fortunate enough to see Eric many times with KISS, and meet him on numerous occasions. He truly was one of the sweetest guys you could ever meet. Also a born smart-ass, which is probably one reason we hit it off so quickly, as I'm the same way. Most of our conversations were us giving each other a hard time, but that's what made it so much fun. I still have a couple photos of him on my wall, that I took, and they'll most likely stay there forever. As a drummer, of course, he was phenomenal, and I love his voice as well. I'm so glad that ROCKOLOGY saw the light of day, as I've enjoyed all of that also. It's so sad that he was taken so young, not only for his sake, but for all of the music he could have made. But he'll never be forgotten.

5.0 out of 5 stars

5.0 out of 5 stars Must read for Kiss fans
I've been a Kiss fan since '78 and was hesitant about getting this book as Eric only spent a short time with the band due to his tragic death in '91 but I've got to say what a read! a must for fans. The way the book's been laid out makes it different to a conventional book, as it's purely based on interviews but alas none from Gene, Paul, Ace or Peter. Still it's a good read and brings back memories of the changes Kiss were facing, it almost seemed like yesterday. I'd recomend it but be warned it's not all rosy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Recueil d'interviews
