Factory Add-on Keyless Entry Keypad

Factory Add-on Keyless Entry Keypad
This is a great option for adding a Ford Factory/OEM Keyless Entry Keypad for a vehicle without a keypad. I installed it on a 2013' Ford Fiesta that had power locks but without a keypad on the drivers outer door. I didn't come with instructions but wasn't to difficult to program with the key programming info in the operators manual. I would recommend programming it prior to installing it on the outside of the door as it didn't program until I tried it several times as I believe it might be to far away from the computer. I tried to take it off after I stuck it to the door and that wasn't happening. Also remember to have ALL your keys with you as you will have to reprogram them at the same time or they will lose their programming and won't work. You can also program your own number if you wish but it does come with a code already programmed in it and a small card with the number on it to keep it handy.

Picked up a used Ford Focus without the exterior key pad like our F150 has. As Ford owners know, having the exterior key pad is a great way to keep an extra set of keys locked in the car. Or it allows you to leave your car running and lock the doors. Followed the instructions and it paired quite easily. It also allows us to have the second back up key not have an expensive remote fob on it.

The only differences between this and the factory installed versions:
1. Battery operated. At some point I'll have to follow the tips left by others on how to change out the battery without replacing the whole thing. The batteries are NOT designed to be replaceable.. but I guess you can.

2. It sticks out a little further from the body than the factory installed models. Maybe as much as 1/4" further.

3. The buttons need a bit more "push" to register.

Works great!

Nice, compact and works s it should. Wish you could change battery (easily). Yes, you can take apart and change batteries, but not designed for that. Oh, by the way. If you looking at these and thinking about changing your present one before batteries die, worth the money. I had one on my 2004 f350 and was getting concerned about the battery life. I lock my keys in truck when hunting or leave truck running at store and lock door (diesel engine, not good to start stop in short time). Finally spent the money and was VERY glad I did. In the instructions for this unit, it explains that when battery gets to almost dead, the unit will cycle the lock when you open the door with key pad. You put in code, door unlocks then relics and unlocks again. I did not know why mine was doing this for almost a year now. Glad I did not get locked out.

Can't figure out how to install on 2017 Ford Escape.

We've installed keypads on several cars with no problem. On my 2015 Ford Transit T350 van, I have 3, on driver's, passengers & rear doors. So, it's not that I can't install these. But, for the 2017 Ford Escape, we've followed the directions, which I think were the same as for the van, and they haven't worked.

Maybe there are other directions for the Escape. I haven't been able to get them. We called the dealer and they didn't help us. We've looked under the right passenger dash for a code but that didn't help.

Anyone know who we can check with? The problem is that we bought them on Amazon. In the past we've used eBay, where there's a seller we can email with questions. But on Amazon, it seems all we can do is post it here in the Community and there's no individual seller whose reputation is affected and will get us the answer. Especially now since we bought it in March.

I installed this on a 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid. I used it to replace a previous generation remote keypad (kp) made by Ford that was installed on the vehicle when it was new. After replacing the battery on the previous model 2 to 3 times over the years, the old kp finally would not function even with a new battery. The new kp is much smaller than the previous generation device. Where-as the old kp was quite large, this new version is much more discrete.

Programming it with older Ford vehicles like mine (slightly different for newer vehicles) entailed turning the ignition on and off quickly 8 times (without starting vehicle), leaving ignition on and then using each of the existing remotes plus this new kp. What could be easier? It took 2 minutes; if that. The removal of the old kp and adhesive took much more time. To do this, I used a heavy gauge 2" plastic putty knife. After removing most of the foam tape adhesive, I then alternated between using Goo Gone adhesive remover on a rag and the plastic putty knife until the adhesive was gone (this took 20 to 30 minutes). After cleaning the surface with the included alcohol wipes and allowing the surface to dry, the new kp was mounted with included foam tape. All done.

Before I mounted the new kp, I was curious if I would also be able to replace the battery in the new kp. I should state that both kps are not designed to have the battery replaced, but it can be done. For the old kp, replacing the battery was a little bit more of an art. For this kp, it's much easier to replace the battery (save yourself the cost of new and go for it).

First, here's the battery that's required: BR2032, 3V lithium, qty. of 1. Supplies you will need: the battery, a thin, but stiff and strong metal blade - not sharp (I used a 1 1/2" metal putty knife (pk)), a heavy plastic putty knife with a tapered working edge, heavy duty double sided foam tape, small screw driver or key (for removing battery from its housing), adhesive remover and a rag.

i) Remove the kp from its mounting position. Use a plastic putty knife as described previously. ii) With the key side on a flat surface, gently, but firmly use the corner of blade to pry the black plastic outer housing off from the kp (there are several snap catches that the cover engages in... these need to be released to pull off the cover). iii) Flip the remaining portion of the kp with the key side up. There is a white plastic cover surrounding the keys and recessed into the base. Place the corner of metal pk between the edge of the white plastic and the base. The white cover, like the black cover is held in by several snap catches. You need to release these to remove the cover. iv) The most difficult part of is now done (and it wasn't that difficult). Remove the silicone cover containing the key pad numbers. Note the position of the two white plastic pieces you will now see (They will undoubtedly move... so you'll need to put them back into their proper position). This will expose the battery and two white pieces of plastic. v) Be careful not to damage the circuit boards. The battery housing will only allow the battery to be pushed out in one direction, but the silicone base material is in the way. While pushing down on the silicone next to the battery (so that it can come out), slide the battery out by pushing on it with something thin and strong (think, a very small screwdriver or a small key from your pocket or purse). Again, be careful with the circuit boards. Reassembly is the reverse of disassembly.

I have always been a fan of keyless entry systems. While looking for a replacement fob, I stumbled upon this item. While it is advertised as being for other vehicles, it works fine for my 2001 F-150. I've come to believe that pretty much ANY Ford that has a factory installed keyless entry system is capable of using this product. Instructions are thorough and well worth reading prior to installation as some of the actions are time-critical.

The fact that the battery isn't replaceable is not a deal breaker for me. My fob is over 15 years old on the same battery and the button wore out before the battery. If the keypad lasts just ten years, it would still be a good investment.

Not sure if it's just my unit or not. I have a much older one of these on my car that has worked great for nearly 10years now on the original battery. I got this one for my son's car but it doesn't always want to unlock his car. I only seems to connect sometimes. Not sure why. Works great when it works.

I installed this on my 2005 Ford Taurus which was not one of the cars listed that it would work on but I decided to take a chance as its a Ford and has power door locks with Fobs. Not sure why they only list a few cars on the website as the instructions that came with the product lists all 2005 Ford cars to current except the 2013 Ford Fusion with keyless entry. I think it will work on most Ford cars as long as you have power door locks with Fobs.

The instructions are well written in full size pages in big print. Once I read the well written easy to read instructions the actual programming took about 40 seconds and that was it. For my car I just had to flip the key from off to run 8 times within 10 seconds, and then hit any key on my Fobs and then press keys 7/8 9/0 on the keypad simultaneously and that was it. If you do not press any key on your Fobs they will not work any longer so make sure you do that if you still want to have active Fobs.

They even send you some cleaning fluid to clean the area that you are going to paste the keypad on, as that area has to be super clean.

Now my 2005 Ford Taurus Sel, already has the factory keypad but after 7 years of usage the most of the keys no longer worked and I even put in a personal code skipping the bad keys and that was good for a year and now they also seldom work and one has to press hard and try again and again till the door opens.

I had phoned the dealership for the cost of a new one and with installation I found it way more expensive than buying this product.

Every now and then one buys a product that you are super happy with and this is one of those rare products and the good thing is that it did not come from China.

I guess the only negative thing is that the C032 battery inside only lasts about 3 years and it cannot be replaced and the cure for a dead battery is to buy a new unit.

Now I can understand why it cannot be replaced as if one could just slide the cover off, and replace the battery you may find some people stealing your battery for the fun of it and as such you will not be able to open the door if need be with the keypad.

Again, I give this product a huge thumbs up and I have used keypads from Ford since 1986 and am not going to change now.

3 stars, only because it is very expensive for what it is. Other than that, I bought it for my Mazda B4000 truck (really a Ford Ranger), in case I lock my keys inside. Mounted inside fuel filler door. Very easy to install. Works every time. If it were a more reasonable price, I'd give it 5 stars.
