Mia Sheridan writes books that are emotional, have angst, tug at the heartstrings, and cause you to feel so much empathy for the characters. I have always enjoyed her writing style, and this book doesn't disappoint. Livvy is a woman who was adopted by a wealthy couple as a child. Although she had luxurious, material comforts she'd lacked the warmth and affection of a true family with them. When the story opens she's in the process of hiring a mercenary (for lack of a better term) to take her to an area of Colombia that had recently been ravaged first by an earthquake, then a tsunami. Through a private investigator she'd learned that her fiance, who'd disappeared two months earlier, was in a small town in that Colombian disaster area which was still inaccessible by normal means. Her fiance had told her that he was going to Miami when he'd left town. In order to find answers and either 1) an honest explanation and reconciliation or 2) closure, she wants to confront the fiance. She hires Thomas. He is taciturn, closed off, very professional but distant. She is warm and tenderhearted, a person who usually tries to find the best in people. They seem to have absolutely nothing in common. During their trek through Colombia they begin to open up to each other as they simultaneously try to ignore the chemistry and attraction between them. That proves to be impossible, but their vastly different expectations for the future and lifestyles seem to doom any chance of a relationship. That bleak outlook seems to be ordained when reaching their destination reveals shocks, lies and betrayals. An excellent read!

He had a bad childhood which caused him to close up towards people and love in general.“Olivia Barton had walked into my life, and my entire world had tilted on its axis.”Seek is a fast pace story about love and second chances. I truly enjoyed this story and now I feel like I must check out the other books in the prior series because I would love to know more about the business in Vegas.
