Worked great for a while, but a few days past the return window I noticed it was dead. Asked seller for replacement, will update this review if they do the right thing.
UPDATE: Seller quickly sent a new one that works. Hopefully I got the one and only bad light and the new one will last forever. Adding a few stars for fast customer service response. Tested the new one, found that the LED array runs on 9V. If yours fails like mine did you can pop off the back cover and bypass the electronics entirely to power the LEDs with a 9V wall wart. (That would also bypass the light sensor and leave it powered all day unless your 9V supply was on a light sensor.)

Case is cast aluminum and appears to be well made and sealed. One caveat: where the power cable enters the housing, there is a nut which I assumed to be a waterproof gland that grips the cable tightly to provide strain relief. However, I discovered that a slight pull revealed the two wires within, so there is no strain relief. No damage was done and it took a few minutes to open the case and put a zip tie around the cable. (See pic.) Shouldn't be necessary but was easy enough to do. That the entrance isn't truly waterproof is not critical as it's on the bottom of the case where no water would likely be present anyway. A dab of silicone seal would seal it.
Performance-wise, it does very well. The usable range is quoted as about 100' (30m) but I found that it did acceptably well to a measured 180' (55m) as the attached pics show. The camera is a HikVision 8mp analogue unit. They were taken with the camera's IR "on" but the difference is negligible with it off. . I could see two coyotes even when they were nearly at the tree line. (They are not in the sample pic.) As with all IR illumination, rain near the camera really "lights up", however.
The AC-DC adaptor consumes 16w @ 120v. I tried splicing another DC lead into the cable that supplies 12v to the camera but the IR output was reduced, so it does need to be independently powered.
The one unknown is long-term durability, which remains to be seen. But I just ordered another one to augment the camera on the other side of the property, which is only about 90' to the fence line. An initial test showed that the area was very well lit.
