About this item

  • COLLECT SPIRITS AND NOURISH THE FORCES OF NATURE: Once an age, a mythic wind lifts the veil between the spirit world and ours. Whimsical seraphs, drawn to the vigor of an ancient forest, descend through clouds to, once again, take up their centennial game.
  • STRATEGY BOARD GAME: In Spirits of the Forest, players represent the four elements that nourish the forces of nature. Up to four players compete to acquire the most spirit symbols, as they score nature points for having the majority of each spirit. The winner is the player with the most nature points at the end of the game.
  • SET COLLECTION GAME: Each turn, a player drafts up to two spirit tiles from the forest (a common pool of 48 spirit tiles), collects favor tokens, and moves, places, or recovers gemstones. Players continue taking turns until all tiles have been collected from the forest.
  • GREAT GAME FOR FAMILY GAME NIGHT: Spirits of the Forest features a blend of game mechanics like open drafting, set collection and abstract strategy. Easy to learn and with a quick playtime, this is a great choice for game night with adults and older kids.
  • NUMBER OF PLAYERS AND AVERAGE PLAYTIME: This game is made for 1 to 4 players and is suitable for ages 14 and older. Average playtime is approximately 20 minutes.

Game Objectives Compete to acquire the most spirit symbols, as they score nature points for having the majority of each spirit. Compete to acquire the most outstanding hats by exchanging cards in hand with cards on the tea table board. Each card exchange influences how each hat is scored. Get your animal band in order so that they'll be ready to play — and although you're competing for space in the practice room with another band, you can incorporate all the musicians in your quest for the right arrangement.

This game is fast and fun and great for kids!
This game is so simple yet so tough. I enjoy playing it the most with 2 players....4 players is a little too brutal. You really have to try and collect all spirit animals (so that you don't get any negative points) but you also have to try to win majority for some of the animal types. Likewise, many people always try to collect a pair of animals each turn, but there are many benefits to collecting just 1 animal per turn (it'll earn you more sun/moon/fire points at the end of the game). In the end, you have to balance what you will invest in....taking animal pairs each turn, taking single animals per turn, winning majority in animal types, collecting the most sun/moon/fire cards. This game is fast and fun and great for kids!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast plays, great looking components, and strategic decisions
Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2020
There is a lot in this little box, more than most would expect. I very much enjoy playing this game and would recommend it to anyone looking for a light, fast playing game that could easily serve as an entry point into gaming when teaching new members to your Group.

This game is very user friendly with easy rules and some added strategic abilities that make this interesting and fun for a casual gamer or someone who more wants to think out their next moves to get their highest score. There's a very small amount of conflict in the way that you may sometimes block the choices of other players for cards you want to keep them from getting. However, with a sacrifice they can still manage to take a card you might be trying to save for your own scoring needs. It is a fun back and forth between everyone playing.

Almost as important as it being just fun engaging game-play is the visual aesthetic of this game. The box cover is gorgeous and the gold writing is slightly raised which makes it a game I store on my shelf facing forward to accent how nice it looks. Then once inside you have all these very nice quality cards with cute artwork on them and a variety of eye catching colors. The game also comes with 4 sets of little plastic gems that serve as your tokens for blocking player moves that are just gorgeous, even though they are plastic they actually catch light and sparkle. They are amazing, I'm going to be searching to see if I can buy more of them somewhere and add them as components to our other games.

If you enjoy tile drafting and set collection this one is an easy choice to add to your collection. If you're not familiar with those terms, just think of it as drawing tiles and matching, but with a bit more elegance to it, and some additional mechanics that you'll easily get the hang of.

This one is a winner for us, love it as a 2 player game.
