Staedtler Noris Digital Samsung Pencil
The STAEDTLER Noris digital is an adaptation of a traditional pencil, but has the cutting-edge technology of an S Pen. This ergonomic pencil, made from the innovative WOPEX material, makes it comfortable and easy to use with digital devices. The external features of the Noris digital for Samsung are also just right: the innovative WOPEX material casing around the EMR tip ensures a velvety yet non-slip feel and an excellent grip.
The key component of the Noris digital for Samsung is its innovative tip made by technology specialists WACOM. It uses electromagnetic resonance technology (EMR) to maximise writing comfort. The tablet creates an electromagnetic field that interacts with the tip, so that the tablet always knows the exact location of the point of the pencil. The STAEDTLER Noris digital for Samsung does not need a battery, and therefore does not need to be charged. It works with all Samsung S Pen-compatible devices.

My only real gripe is that one of the Noris Digitals i bought (bought 3 so far) had the internals just fall out. Though with just a touch of glue fixed this as it is only a wood pencil hollowed in the end to accept the internals (simple black sealed tube the tip sits in). No big deal in end, it was just annoying when it first happened since i didnt have glue at that time. Also, they are as durable as a real pencil....... so...... if you fall asleep on the couch with it next to you, you can easily snap it in half. Little more glue and some shrink wrap brought it right back to life (first one i bought has been thrown through the ringer for sure).
F.Y.I
Noris Digital for Chromebook is the exact same thing as the original Noris Digital. So, if you are looking for more color options you can get that version instead. I wanted to have two, one with the black tip and one with the white tip for different applications so i tried one. Worked perfectly and since the Chromebook versions are white sided, plus the color you choose, it was a no brainer to put the white tip with it. This allows for less thinking when reaching for the right pencil, black sided original has black tip and white sided Chromebook has the white tip.
Also, if you want to use the Noris Digital with your Note 9 without having to remove your original S pen you can. Just go into your S pen settings and turn on the "Use Multiple S pens" option. You wont have to remove the original from the phone now so you wont lose track of it. This will cause your battery life to drop faster though as its always ready to pick up the S pen. Wish Samsung would create a quick switch button for the navigation bar but until then I just leave in on. Battery loss isnt super noticable but im getting used to it now.
The Norris pencil is not a comfortable as a standard Wacom stylus, like the type you'd use with a Cintiq or an Intuos, but it's no less comfortable than a classic #2 pencil. In fact, the nib on the Norris stylus glides beautifully on the surface of both of my Samsung devices. It definitely feels grippy enough to give you control to draw a smooth and steady line while also allowing your hand to remain relaxed enough for extended drawing sessions, thanks to its long body. I think the only thing I'd change or add would be to slip on a finger grip, like the kind you'd add to your pencil in grade school.
I can't speak to the long term build quality of the Norris stylus, but from initial use, by me, a guy with a pretty heavy grip and frenetic drawing style, this pencil has done extremely well and has handled my actions with no noticeable damage or fatigue to the pencil body or nib. Although, I at times can feel the body of the pencil deflect a bit at times, I'd say it's no more "bendy" than the S pen and is just ever so slightly "bendier" (is that a word, lol) than a Wacom Cintiq stylus.
This "pencil" has breathed new life to my old Note 4 and has made drawing on the couch with the Tab A a nice escape from my desk and Cintiq tablet. Although, this pen could never really replace the stellar interaction between a Wacom Cintiq and it's styus, this Norris/Staedtler pencil coupled with Wacom's EMR tech has made casual drawing in bed, the couch, my backyard or anywhere else I find myself doodling while trying to stay creative during a pandemic.
I recommend this pencil to anyone trying to upgrade their drawing experience on a mobile device.
I really love this stylus, though it feels incredibly fragile. The nib itself, while it works perfectly fine, feels like it sits a bit 'loose' in the tip, and as others have said it doesn't come with replacements. So when the tip wears down or breaks, you have to buy a completely new stylus. The stylus itself also seems to be made of some kind of composite or fake wood (reminds me a bit of IKEA furniture, tbh), which I know because my first one snapped clean in half. Just from being thrown in a backpack with a few other items and with normal daily activity. Easily repaired, but I was stunned it broke so easily.
Now on to the things I DO love about this stylus. It is identical to the S-pen which I love in function but not in form. There's practically no cursor offset and the pressure sensitivity is smooth and great for me vs. the Bamboo Feel which had absurd offset and felt like I was trying to draw in mud. There is no side-button, which is a plus for me as I never use it and accidentally hit it on the s-pen constantly. I love that it is straight up a pencil, which means it is compatible with any ergonomic grips meant for pencils or pens. The length of the stylus is also great for different drawing or painting positions depending on what drawing app I am using. In general it just feels really good to use.
This stylus generally retails for ~45USD, which given how fragile it is and the lack of extra tips, is not really worth it. I bought both of mine for sub-30USD, which is reasonable for what the stylus currently is. If you love the S-Pen that comes with the galaxy tabs but not the fact that it's like writing with a toothpick, I would definitely recommend picking this up.

Otherwise it's great! 5 star.
It doesn't substitute the S-pen entirely but is a great alternative for someone looking for a comfortable writing experience. Great for drawings and sketches. Really cool to see people's reactions when they see you writing with a 'pencil' on a phone screen.
I definitely recommend this product.
If you have a compatible tablet or device, and you need that tactile feel of pen/pencil when drawing or sketching, even writing, get one of these, you won't regret it.
Great product!
