After using it for a couple of weeks I had a problem with it not carbonating H2O and not making the buzz sounds even how hard I tried pulling the lever down. So I tried unscrewing & screwing back Co2 cylinder method which worked fine but the same problem came back soon after several use. However, I was able to come up with a solution!!! The problem seemed to me was a small amount of H2O flow back in the tube and the air wasn't coming out to make bubble, so after I carbonate H2O and removed the water bottle, simply pull the lever down once to let Co2 come out in the air which removes excess water in the tube(the black stick part). After doing this method, I never experience the problem.
So I'm very happy with the product and I'm thinking to buy a second set to MA home. Only wish I have is that I wish the H2O bottle isn't plastic (even they nicely indicates the expiration date for the bottle-which I think they are super considerable for safe use/health matter).
We’ve had the same problems described in the other reviews regarding a leak and the system not working after a few months. Shortly after the warranty ended, we started to hear a leaky sound. I called Aarke and based on the info I provided, it’s a problem with the gasket. In fact, this must be a normal problem because they actually have instructions on replacing it. I was told I would receive a gasket in the mail but to this day, I have not received it. So, we decided to purchase a new one. After only a month or so, it is not working at all!!!
We are going back to the Sodastream! Do not get lured into thinking you may one of the lucky ones who has a model that is not defective. It will give out and you will be out $200+!
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
We use 3-4 bottles of seltzer a day and have gone through 3 sodastream soda makers (1 crystal, 2 penguin) in 8 years. We've never liked the big, clunky, dark plastic sodastreams (though the penguin is slightly better than the crystal) or the harsh, loud noise they make, but we did like the glass bottles that go with these machines. Given how often we used them, we haven't been surprised they conk out after 2.5 years or so, but hoped for better. So, we were cautiously optimistic about the aarke.
The PROS: From a design perspective, the machine takes up much less visual space and is more attractive than the sodastreams. It also offers an easier and more pleasant user experience. Unlike the sodastreams (particuarly the crystal) the operating mechanism - the lever - is positioned for comfortable use and the sound it makes when carbonating is a pleasant "swoosh." In addition, the open design makes it easier to clean than the sodastreams - if any water drips out of the bottle (which supposedly happens, but has not yet happened after two weeks of daily use), the drip tray easily lifts out for cleaning.
The CONS: The bottles are by far the weakest part of the product. First, they are plastic. Second, they are $20 and only one bottle came with the soda maker. Third, they have a shelf life of about 3 years - the date after which they should not be used is stamped on the side. Fourth, the bottles are not dishwasher-safe (unlike the glass soda stream bottles). Finally, the metal cap is actually a metal cover glued to a plastic cap, and the metal cover fell right off after a few days, so now we are just using it with the black plastic cap with a big hard blob of dried glue on top. Also, the whole machine is surprisingly light. I'm guessing that, like the bottle cap, the stainless steel may be a thin sheet wrapped around plastic innards.

Die Kunsstoffteile im Kopf dind viel zu schwach ausgelegt, brechen nach einger Zeit, dann geht nichts mehr.
Fazit: wunderschön, miese Qualität.
