Customers are mixed about the Alexa compatibility of the digital device. Some mention that Alexa is great and can control your Xbox, smart TV, and other devices. However, others say that it gets confused when to do something and when to search for movies or TV shows. The far-field voice recognition also doesn't work as advertised, and even using the remote voice interface doesn' t always help. Easy setup and controls all your equipment but has room for improvement

Easy setup and controls all your equipment but has room for improvement
I bought this as an alternative solution to control my TV and sound system with Alexa. My main setup in my room consists of an LG 70" 4k TV, nvidia shield, xbox one, LG soundbar, and a Nintendo switch. Before the fire TV cube, I had no way to control all with Alexa until I bought a logitech harmony hub. When I found out about this, I thought I'd try it. My setup in my living room is simple. Samsung 55" 3D TV, Samsung sound towers and the fire TV cube. Setting this up was easy! It detected both TV and speakers right away. After all software updates and apps that I wanted and had to sign in to, I had this thing running in half an hour and didn't even need a manual. What I observed (good or bad):1. It is smaller than I expected. Not a big deal but I thought it was bigger.2. If using the remote as your mic, you have to press and hold while speaking. Unlike with my nvidia shield, I can talk with just a single press then Google assistant can listen (similar to a phone). It's just something you need to remember if you're used to a press and release to talk kind of person.3. When I ask Alexa to turn on the tv, TV, on on both TV and speakers. This is good when I actually want both to be turned on at the same time. Maybe it takes a few tweaks to customize but it works great for now since I only have a simple setup for this.4. I hear Alexa through my speakers when turned on. This was unexpected. Like I said, I may need to do some tweaks to have Alexa just be heard on the cube. Not sure about this yet.5. The blue light appears on the top of the TV screen when you speak to Alexa which is kind of cool. It's like your TV is a giant echo show.6. It pauses whatever is on the TV if you call on Alexa. I didn't like this since it ruins the show when it pauses. My Alexa in my room does not interrupt my watching while I ask for something else.7. The speakers on the cube itself is not as good as my other echo products. Honestly, my echo dot sounds better.8. You have to review and get used to new commands to completely be hands free on this. Sure, it takes longer to get things done then just using the remote to scroll through things but it's a nice feature to not even hold a remote. Is just not there yet in my opinion.9. Picture quality is very good. I may need to plug this on my 4k TV to see the quality on 4k content but on my 1080p, it looks great.10. I have not tested it but I don't think I'd play games on this. It's the reason why I ditched my fire TV stick for the nvidia shield. Don't think this has the hardware to have a decent playing experience. Maybe for simple games..Overall, this fire TV cube is a good buy. It is like having an echo dot and a logitech harmony hub in one. I'd say if this was priced $80, it's a steal but at $130, I feel it's a bit pricey since it's not perfect.
