From the manufacturer
Did you know?
In field tests conducted by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, nearly half of all installed ventilation fans fail the required airflow standards outlined in ASHRAE 62.2 (the recognized standard for ventilation and indoor air quality), despite their advertised CFM.
Rely on a higher power
For a healthy home and healthy living, clean indoor air is essential.
Panasonic is reinventing venting with superior ventilation power that quickly removes contaminated air and moisture from your home. When you install a Panasonic ventilation fan you always get the promised CFM power rating as listed on the box.
Understanding the importance of power rating:
- To move unhealthy air and moisture out of the home effectively, high-powered ventilation is essential. Panasonic fans deliver greater air-moving power as tested and verified in real-world settings.
- Panasonic fans are engineered to perform beyond the minimum 0.1" and 0.25" static pressure benchmarks, despite complicated duct runs
- Our ECM-motored fans provide powerful CFM output and overcome static pressure at the 0.375" level more common on typical installations.
Powerfully Quiet
Panasonic ventilation fans deliver the highest power rating to remove air impurities from your home while operating at whisper-quiet audio levels so low you’ll barely know it’s on.

Product Description
Panasonic FV-08-11VF5 Whisperfit EZ Retrofit Bathroom Fan, 80 or 110 CFM is an affordable choice for delivering quiet, energy efficient, and effective exhaust ventilation for the many bathrooms in your portfolio. Ideal for residential remodeling and hotel construction or renovations, these fans fit where you need to put them (even in 2x6 construction). Because Panasonic fans are long lasting, this may be the last time you need to replace them. Built-in Pick-A-Flow speed selector allows you to select desired airflow (80 or 110 CFM). Being able to choose the proper CFM level gives you the flexibility and assurance that one fan can satisfy a range of ventilation design requirements and perform as promised, even with a complicated duct run. Installation is made easy with the Flex-Z Fast installation bracket and detachable installation adapter. The detachable installation adapter provides even greater flexibility, as it simply slides off the fan housing for easy wiring and attachment of the duct from under the ceiling. Panasonic fans use less energy to move larger volumes of air than other brands. Consequently, Panasonic fans run cooler so they last longer. They are also much less likely to overheat and result in motor failure. Panasonic ventilation fans are ENERGY STAR certified where guidelines exist, and provide greater efficiency and comfort with less noise. High performing motors and improved blade design deliver superior performance and long life you expect from a premium Panasonic ventilation fan. Achieve quality air and energy efficiency with whisper-quiet sound levels for your spaces with Panasonic FV-08-11VF5 Whisperfit EZ Retrofit Ventilation Fan.

It's not as quiet as their FV-08WQ1 wall fan (that's an amazingly quiet fan!) but it's quiet enough if your vent run is short and you don't need to use the higher fan speed -- I can still hear the fan running outside the closed door and just barely thru the floor to the bathroom above. Panasonic -- we all really would pay more for truly QUIET fans! You already set new price points for these families of fans, just give us the option for buying even better ones for the houses we keep!
Cutting the square hole in my ceiling was the hardest part, 2 layers of old school tile backer board with steel mesh reinforcement. To keep that new hole square and in the right place, I make a 1/2" plywood template the shape of the new hole (there's a paper template in the kit but I needed mine a bit different because of an adjacent joist -- the old fan was attached directly to the face of a ceiling/floor joist, the remodel bracket moves the new fan about 1.25" away and I had the room and the oversized cosmetic cover hides everything.) and screwed the template right to the ceiling lined up to the old fan opening corner then used a Fein multi-tool to cut the new hole running the multi purpose blades right up to the side of the template to keep everything aligned and square to the world, make the overhead work fast and quite straightforward. would have been a nasty messy job without the Fein.
Having the power module and vent hose connection as a separate assembly that goes in after the mounting brackets was brilliant. The self drilling mounting screws in the kit which hold everything to the pair of folding mounting brackets were just long enough to do the job -- thank you Panasonic!
And If you've been wondering if you would ever really need a new Li-Ion battery drill with the built in flashlight, this is definitely the job, getting that first screw in to attach the remodel bracket to the far joist in the dark with blocking your vision because you've got both arms reaching thru the new square hole without a built-in flashlight drill was challenging.
and regarding the prior reviewers complaint, there was a metal bell adapter to reduce the vent size included in my fan kit. it moves the vent hose attachment another 5-6" inches away from fan and would have worked fine if I had had the room for it. It was a shame not to use it as it was a nice piece of hardware, probably could have parked my car on it.
I would definitely recommend this product and would certainly buy this again.
Since this was my first ever DIY bath fan installation including roof vent installation, it took me many days of planning. There are several things I want to highlight, especially if you are also doing it yourself the first time in a situation like mine:
(1) The fan doesn't come with a cardboard to mark the area of the ceiling drywall for you to cut. I made one myself by tracing around the edges/flange of the the fan with a marker. (There is a cardboard for you to cover the unit while you are painting, but you can't use that one.)
(2) The unit is meant to be installed from your bathroom. You can't do it from the attic, since the screws for securing the unit to the bracket are to be tightened from below.
(3) For a first time DIYer, the instructions that come with the unit are pathetically sketchy. It took me days to figure out exactly how the part with the adaptor and the junction box and the fan body are to be secured to the brackets. Remember that both the part with adaptor and the junction box and the fan body are to go underneath the bracket and be secured from below. Do NOT sit the adaptor and the junction box on the attic side of the bracket.
(4) The instructions say that you first secure the part with the adaptor and the junction box with two screws to the bracket on one side and then the fan body with two screws on the other side. Since the fan body has a fair amount of weight, I am a bit wary of using only two screws to secure the fan body (with the motor) to the bracket. Here is what I did to further secure the fan body to the bracket. I wanted all four screws to secure the fan body to the bracket. So I used two screw washers and made small cut outs with a tin clipper. I didn't screw in the two screws for the adaptor and the junction box all the way into the bracket. After securing the fan box with the other two screws to the other side of the bracket, I came back to slide the two washers into the two screws for the adapter and the junction box. I then tightened up the two screws with the washers on the flange of the fan box. Now the fan box is secured to the bracket with four screws instead of two.
The fan is very quiet compared to the old unit it replaced, although it is not "whisper" quiet. All in all, it was a learning experience for me. But again, if you are the first time doing this yourself, you have to take the time thinking through the whole process and getting the necessary tools to do the job, especially when you have to work with a very tight attic space. It is not as easy to install as the Youtube video says it is, but it is well worth it. At least, my wife is now happy with a quiet fan and a room free of moisture.

This fan has a switch under the cover to select one of two speeds. I have it on the highest speed and it is very quiet. Not silent but no fan is.
-install was a pretty big job since I had to do electric, roof vent and fan but I did it with no help and basic skills.
-instructions were not great but watch a YouTube video to get a better understanding.
-I did not use the supplied metal bracket because I felt lining up the screws to metal bracket would have been tricky, I made a wood frame around the hole in addict and it worked great.
-Be sure to vent the fan out a 4inch metal roof vent (I bought one on Amazon since hardware store had cheap plastic) and use insulated 4 inch ducting.

I have extensive DIY skills but still stuggled to understand the installation instructions. I unplugged the electric circuit from the outside fan housing instead of inside; from there, the installation went from what would have been easy to way more confusion and waste of time; good thing I had access to do the installation from the attic or else it would have also been harder to do a good job.
I had to add spray foam from the attic to block draft around the fan housing. Also to block significant draft between the fan housing and the side pannel used to connect the power and duck. Dont expect air tight installation if you do it only from the ceiling.
It would also have been time saver to have the dimension of the hole to cut in the drywall ceiling. Could not found that on the instructions.
