Most of the Japanese rice sold in the Japanese market of the U.S. is a Japanese variety grown in the United States, so actually not real Japanese rice. But this rice is grown and harvested in Japan.
This rice was excellent.
Each grain of rice was solid. The water content of rice was not very high compared to other Japanese rice, (Koshihikari)but I think it was well-balanced rice that goes well with many dishes. (However, the rice has a sufficient amount of water) I think it was also suitable for sushi. The price was not cheap, but the quality of the rice was worth it. And the support of the seller was solid. A manual for this rice was included in the delivered box, and I felt a passion for the rice.

The rice has an appearance of fresh fallen snow when the rice cooker is opened. Each tiny grain sparkles like a translucent pearl, and they cling gently together without having a sticky texture. In sushi, the texture is nicely chewy, with a delicate flavor that can be enhanced with a splash of rice vinegar.
Because of the price, it's definitely a luxury buy but if you like gourmet rice, this one is worth a try. I'll most likely get it again.
Now, 2kg of rice for $30 may seem steep compared to a 6kg bag of local Nishiki rice. We're talking about a price point of $15 per kg compared to $3.30 for the local option, but if you're serving Japanese rice the way it's intended to be eaten, you can taste and feel the difference. Now, I wouldn't splurge if you're planning to throw some onigiri rice balls on the grill or you've got hungry kids who'll just bury the rice under a furikake, but consider giving it a taste-off. Will order again.
This is by far the best imported rice I have found for eating rice and making sushi.

This is by far the best imported rice I have found for eating rice and making sushi.
Good quality, good taste, good texture. A little expensive... but what are you going to do?
Best rice in USA period.
Even the "Japanese" style rice that are produced locally taste off.
This is the real deal authentic Japanese rice.
You are paying a premium for something that would be 5 bucks in Japan however the flavor makes you forget about the damage to your wallet
I have tried many brands of sushi rice from the asian store all with pretty much the same results.
wondered what could possible justify the cost of this Japanese brand of sushi rice. My curiosity jot he best of me so on a whim, I I bought it just to to find out.
OH MY, what a surprise ! The TASTE and texture of this rice are unmached by any other brand I have ever used in the past. I'm HOOKED, yes it is expensive but if you are going to spend $18-24 a pound for tuna or other expensive sefood then, I would say it makes perfect sense. I suppose if you are just making ordinary rolls with lots of ingredients so that you can hardly taste the rice the other rice brand will do but even in that case, I found that I could never get the rice for my my rolls to stay together properly which made making rolls a pain. With this rice the texture/stickiness is just right. Now making rolls is a breeze.
I am a retired chef of 50 years and I highly rceccomend this rice to anyone who values quality products.
