For the price, I can't see anything else coming close.
Lets do some positives and negatives.
Negatives first:
1. No half-links. Sure would be nice. Even with the 3 position micro-adjustment, it still needs just a bit...more. Rolex Glidelock type would be awesome.
2. Screw-in bracelet pins would be a nice touch. I know, it's a $170+ watch, but I can still dream...
3. Sapphire glass is great, but Anti-reflective coating would be the cherry on top.
4. Neymar... The name just comes off as something less than a serious watch company. The font used on the watch face is a bit too "playful", as well.
5. No see-through caseback. I always love to see that in my automatic watches.
6. Bezel insert is aluminum, I think. I'd like to see ceramic.
7. Lume - SEE UPDATED REVIEW BELOW -
At this price-point, the only valid negative is no half-links... and the brand name. Other stuff is just a high-end watch wish list.
On to the positives:
1. Value for money is really off the charts! Attention to detail is amazing for a watch at this price point. Beautifully finished. The brushed stainless steel body has great lines, and I like that there's no polished edges. I'm sure that was a cost-effective move on Neymars part. The finish work on the body of my watch is impeccable.
2. Very nice bracelet. High quality. Solid links and solid end links. Mine has the recently upgraded milled stainless clasp links, as well. Looks like Neymar has listened to customers and reviewers.
3. Bezel action is pretty much perfect. 120 clicks. Feels good. Sounds good. Lines up perfectly at 12 O'clock. The bezel isn't super grippy, due to the coin edge and low profile. It's also a bit on the tight side, but I'm sure will relax with a bit of time. Personally, I'd like a bit more grip.
Compared to my Seiko Prospex Padi, the Neymars bezel action sounds less "springy". There's also virtually no back-play. Job well done.
4. Domed Sapphire crystal. Description on Amazon says it's Anti-reflective, but I don't think so. Still, sapphire on a sub $200 watch... Bravo!
5. Seiko automatic movement. Time proven workhorse. In the day I've had it... +7 or 8 seconds. I expect it will relax and get better with use.
6. Very nice crown. Good action. I didn't experience the anomalies that others have mentioned. No problem pushing in crown and getting it to thread. Also, no jumping minute hand. Nice size, too. Easy to grip.
7. Nice lume. Super luminova, I think. I've heard it doesn't last too long on this watch. Then again, others have mentioned that it lasts several hours. I haven't had a chance to charge it properly. It's applied well - meaning not sloppily. Maybe not as many coats as higher end watches.. Multiple coats take time. Time is money.
That's it for my highs and lows.
I love the style of this watch.
A blatant Tudor Black Bay homage with various Rolex cues as well... such as Mercedes hour hand and lollipop second hand. The 6 and 9 are nicely done as well.
It pays homage to both Tudor and Rolex, but has its own unique vibe.
I really like the clean look of no crown guards. The crown is so hefty, and screws in so securely, that I think damaging it would be pretty tough to do.
For its size, It's a heavy watch. With 3 links removed, it weighs in at 190 grams. I measured with calipers, and just over 41mm case diameter, and case thickness is just over 15 mm including the sapphire crystal.
The watch looks chunky on my wrist compared to Omega SkyFall, even though they are basically same thickness. The Omega has a very sculpted side profile, whereas the Neymar follows Tudors style.
I'm going to wear this watch exclusively for the next week or two (neglecting all others). If anything changes, I'll update my review.
I honestly think this watch is a true game changer, and is the best bang for the buck available at this time.
I've really looked this thing over, and can't seem to find any issues.
In my opinion, this watch easily compares to watches retailing at $800-$1500. Just ignore the fact that the movement is a well respected mid-line Seiko.
The fit and finish are well beyond the price paid. That's true value for money!
I'm really thinking about getting the green bezel version as well. Maybe on black Friday...
I hope that my photos help out anyone who may be looking, or on the edge. I apologize for the coloration on some of the pics. I think my lighting makes the watch seem almost rose gold.
If you're on the edge thinking about this watch... Do it! Take the chance.
UPDATE 12/1/19
Time-keeping:
For the past week, I've been checking movement accuracy with the Atomic Clock & Watch Accuracy Tool app. I'm at roughly +4 seconds per day. That's within COSC Standards.
Nice!
I've found as I wear the watch, it's a bit faster, but laying it (off wrist) on the helium escape valve side at night tends to slow it just a bit, compared to sleeping with it on my wrist. Also, overnight off my wrist, laying flat it gains a second.
I'll also note that it ran slightly faster the first few days, then kinda settled into its groove.
Lume:
Not too good. It lights up like a fire-cracker instantly. Then... Dims and fades almost as quickly.
It seems similar results from sunlight, to artificial lighting, to my UV flashlight.
A bit disappointed with lume, overall.
If I could, I'd remove a half-star because of the sub-standard lume performance. But, on the other hand, performance of Seiko movement is bang-on. This movement, and this watch have got it where it counts.
I'm still going to wear this Neymar "Lawsuit" model exclusively for this coming week. That'll be 2 full weeks of usage.
If I have anything noteworthy to say after the next week has passed, I'll be sure to update my review again.
UPDATE 12/10/19
Time-keeping:
So I posted another screenshot of accuracy app. Just under 4 seconds per day fast. Not bad at all.
Lume:
I take back some of the bad things I said earlier. The Lume is not as good as my Seiko Padi Diver, but it's doable. Like I mentioned earlier, it lights up bright and fast. From there, it settles quickly into a faint glow that's sticks around for several hours. It's not strong at all, but readable in dark bedroom in the middle of the night.
That's about it. Review over 2 week period. Great watch, great price. Consider my mind blown.
I just received the Neymar 40mm Datejust Rolex homage. That review is coming soon. So far, after one day, only one second off. Looks promising...

But at the price offered here (under $200), I figured it was worth the gamble. I was not disappointed.
Though it could be labeled a "sub homage," the design is different enough to sort of generically invoke other dive watches of the 1950s - 1960s rather than just the sub.
The case is slightly oversized compared to a true sub and very bulky with a handsome satin finish. The watch sits tall, but shouldn't be too tall if your accustomed to wearing mechanical Seikos (the Seko NH movement is unnecessarily tall). The bezel clicks positively and lines up perfectly with the 12 and 6 o'clock positions. The bezel insert features the thinner numeric font found on the Submariner rather than the thicker font found on the Invicta Pro Diver.
All indices are sharp and affixed perfectly on the dial. The scown screws down smoothly and is easy to operate. The bracelet even has hollow end links. The case boasts 300m water resistance and a helium release valve - although I will never be a saturation diver (nor will most owners of this watch), so I will never know if either the WR or the valve works (unless either fails in my pool). The sapphire crystal is clear and slightly domed, giving the watch a retro vibe.
The only weak part of this watch is the bracelet. Though it has solid end links, the bracelet seems disproportionately thin compared the thickness of the case, uses sizing pins instead of screws, and has a stamped push-button deployment clasp of the type one might find on a Fossil, Nixon, or Citizen watch. For the price, the bracelet is nice enough, if not better than other offerings at this price point (and certainly better than bracelets sold with some more expensive Seikos divers), but still underwhelming when paired with the main body of the watch (again - something that seems more in the $500-$600 range). It makes me wonder if StrapCode offers a Miltat Super Oyster that would fit this watch . . .
Only time will tell if this watch is durable, reliable, or water-resistant as advertised, but so far, it's off to a good start.
