The bag itself functions as it should with plenty of space for what I need. Please keep in mind that his is a TECH BAG, not a full blown tool bag for every single tool you own. With that said I'm able to carry everything I need to respond to a service call; multi-meter, multi bit screwdrivers, small 12 volt drill, flashlight, crimpers, cutters, needle nose, laptop, service ticket book, and other items to do my job. This thing can get very heavy very fast however, so pack accordingly. If you simply do not want to forget a single tool I would suggest carrying a supplemental rolling bag as well.
Other than that I have only a few minor personal complaints with this bag but I would definitely recommend it. I feel it was worth every cent I paid for it and I doubt I will need to replace it anytime soon. After owning a Klein tech bag and it failing on me after a year I'm glad I made the switch.
Pros:
- Easily carry your tools with plenty of padding in the shoulders and back.
- Lots of space for carrying the essentials.
- Doesn't topple over when open.
- Rugged design that has withstood the elements.
- Re-enforced in all the right places.
Cons:
- Gets very heavy very fast.
- Expensive, but you get what you paid for.
- Placement of some of the pockets doesn't make sense.
- No dedicated padded sleeve/pocket for tablets/laptops.
Even after 5 years of everyday use this backpack still amazes me. With the exception of ONE single plastic broken on the left shoulder strap there are no issues outside of normal wear and tear. I recommend these backpacks 100% because it's stood the test of time and I've certainly gotten my money's worth. I just hope that they are still being made with the same attention to detail and quality that got me to buy this pack so many years ago...

Pros:
1) Holds an abundance of tools - I keep my normal use tools on the front side, and some of my smaller hvac tools on the back.
2) Comfortable - it’s comfortable to carry as a back pack, which is why I got it. I often have to walk 10-15 min to get to where I need to be.
3) stable/sturdy - when carrying by the grab handle, because it’s attached to the bottom, it’s very sturdy. And when you set it down, the base of the bag, with the rigidness, doesn’t allow it to fall over.
4) water proof bottom - I often work in wet environments, so this feature was a huge plus for me.
5) warranty - I was approved for the warranty, which I used to help justify the purchase. I could spend $100/year on a tool bag or I could spend $300 with a 5yr warranty!
Cons:
1) weight - the bag empty is actually kind of heavy, then you add your tools and it turns into a 40lb dead weight.
2) front pouch - originally I was going to use the front pouch to hold an organizer of small parts, but it’s very small.
3) Price - $300 for a bag is steep. Again, I believe it to be worth it, but not everyone can afford that. And I only bought because I got half off.
4) side “pencil” holders - they are pretty big, and I have issues with my pens/utensils falling out.
To sum up, I do think the bag is worth the purchase depending on what job this is for. My cons were sort of nitpicking, because honestly, I really have no real issues with the bag.
Top reviews from other countries
So I was overloading and annihilating a dewalt tool backpack (200$) every year because the zippers would eventually give out. Then it finally dawned on me that my boss has a bag that looks to be at least 15 years old if not 30 - covered in glue, pipe dope, silicone, all the fun stuff. It's also unavoidably stuffed to the max with tools and still rocking a fully functioning zipper. Not to mention it has no rips or stitching coming undone - what the hell? What brand's that? Veto. It's not a backpack, my preferred method of carrying this much weight, but it is old and very intact. I decided I needed one. I searched around town, nobody carries them... but THAANK YOOU amazon. And what... o..m..GOTHEY MAKE BAcKPACKS!!!1! YEEEESSSSSss
Unfortunately, you want quality, you need to pay for it. So I purchased the most expensive piece of apparel I've ever owned. After exactly a year of using it in the field every 8-10 hour work day I can tell you, like my boss's bag, it's still 100% as functional as the day I got it. Zipper still nice and smooth. Not only that, but I've grown so accustomed to the unique features of the bag it would be very frustrating to go back to anything else.
The hook feature is great for keeping the bag from falling over in the back of the truck. This would happen from time to time with my dewalt bags and you'd have to reorganized a bunch of spilled tools when you opened up the bag. Very annoying.
The little "shelf" the flap makes when you open up the bag is my fav. A strap from the top of the flap can be clipped to a ring at the top of the bag which holds the weight of the tools you're using. So you dont have to put em in the dirt or amongst a bunch of junk so they blend in and you lose em or forget em. The shelf keeps em clean, keeps em organized. Brilliant. The flap also has a large enough magnet section for the important screws of the appliance I'm taking apart so I don't need a separate magnet tray.
Even just the fact that the flap is a flap is genius design. My last dewalt bag basically opened down the middle and you stacked tools on both sides of the opening. This caused the bag to essentially close on itself when open. You had to hold it open with one hand, grab the tool with the other, requiring you to also face the bag. With a flap flopped wide open the bag can be even right behind you and you can just reach around and grab stuff with one hand.
In summary, this is probably the greatest tool bag manufactured by human beings. I haven't tried them all, but I know it would be a hell of a difficult task to improve on this design. Yes it's expensive, but it's probably the last tool bag you'll buy.
