For those of you who are interested in this sling for its functionality, here is my review for you. First off some background, I had the privilege of being trained to shoot at the USMC Weapons Training Battalion in Quantico, VA. I'm no Marine Sniper, but I can shoot pretty well, and I love precision marksmanship. It's also important to note that I purchased this sling for use in KNOWN DISTANCE situations where a loop sling is appropriate. In my mind, this is not a "combat" sling. So if you are looking for a combat sling - you can stop reading.
If you don't know how to use a loop sling or why it is important for precision marksmanship - I can't explain all of that in this post. Try Googling - "why should I use a loop sling?" or "how to use a M1907 sling." That will help you decide if a loop sling is right for you.
Now on to why I chose THIS sling. First of all, I was trained on the "web sling" which nothing more than a nylon sling traditionally used on the M16 service rifle. As of 2014 it was still standard issue with a service rifle in the USMC. What I don't like about the web sling is: it's ugly (I know looks aren't everything but if I spend $1000 on a rifle, I'm not going to put some cheap green nylon sling on it.), to use it as a loop sling, you have to mark it (again if you don't know what I mean here, you have some homework to do anyway), when it is in the loop sling configuration, you can't use it as a regular sling because it has to be disconnected from the rear sling swivel.
The M1907 sling is superior to the web sling because: it looks awesome - it's leather and steel, and every time I look at it, it reminds of those leathernecks who made a name for themselves by out-shooting their German enemies in WWI (google "devil dogs"), because it has pre-punched holes, you just remember which hole to put the upper hook in depending on the position you are firing from, and when it is in loop sling configuration, you can still throw it over your shoulder in a pinch because you never disconnect it from the rear sling swivel.
I will say, that it is leather which means it will need to be cared for. I plan to use neatsfoot oil to keep the leather pliable over time. If I ever start to have problems with this sling I will come back and update this post. So far, I have taken it on two hunting trips, one of which it was raining - the sling is still in great shape.
For those who don't know, a rifle sling is not just for carrying it but also helps you aim it. Wrap it around your elbow in a certain way while aiming, and the sling presses the gun against your shoulder and helps steady it. The rather conplicated set of adjusting buckles with a sling like this helps you adjust it to exactly the right length for this purpose--another reason I'm glad this sling has good quality hardware attachments.
I purchased this sling to put on my SA-Garand that I purchased from the CMP. I wanted something that was durable and looked correct for my rifle. This sling came highly recommended and for the money, I couldn't help but order one. It arrived coiled up in a plastic baggie from IMA. I opened it up and unrolled it and inspected it. I came to find that all the metal hooks appear to be well attached and of heavy gauge metal. They'll be hard to break. The leather itself seems of good quality. Not as "thick" as I'd personally like, but hey, it cost less than 25 dollars. One thing is that the leather is EXTREMELY dry. I ordered a bottle of Leather Honey (on amazon) and gave it 2 treatments of that before mounting. Once it was softened up the sling fit up nicely to my rifle and looks awesome! I think it will last a long time. The one thing I hope is that the leather darkens up over time. It's a bit light, but I'm sure it will age. Definitely recommend.
TL:DR
Great quality/fit/finish, sling leather very dry get leather conditioner and apply before install. Excellent Value.

It's light in color like the picture but I have no problem with it. I thought it might make sliding the pump a bit dramatic being a heavy leather and steel sling but it works out fine. I had to get some inch and a half sling swivels to fit the new sling, no problem there as I had some already (Uncle Mike's). They've the quick detach so if I need to do that I can. Works great.
Yeah, this sling might be a bit much for an old shotgun but it's working great, looks good, and gives me some options. It's been a year now, I've walked with the shotgun on my shoulder a few miles, and fired about 100 rounds through it at the range and the sling shows no wear.
The sling is very nice too. Holes are centered and the frog clips are heavy duty. I see this being a long lasting sling.
Its a bit stiff, as it is leather, but that's to be expected. Some usage will soften it up. I mean, you'd have to do the same to a baseball glove...right?!?
Conclusion, its nice, thick, heavy duty frog clips, and fits my Garand perfectly.
