- Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2015Lovely, intelligent book for everyone who resonates to pure romanticism and classical music. Joy to read and to follow the author's musical reflections on YouTube.
Sadly, the cover design is misleading: the book isn't a cat manual -- it's about emotion that guides thought. This book deserves a better cover design in its future reincarnation.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2015What a lovely read. The cat is the instigator of changes in a lonely professor's life. But it's not a cat book even though the cat is omnipresent. The butterfly effect is a recurring theme. A lightweight but enchanting narrative, filed with quotable lines on a philosophy of life that suggests relationships are essential, and it helps to be very smart and still interested in soaking up information.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 24, 2019I thoroughly enjoyed this book!! It is reminiscent of A Man Called Ove or Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand or The Rosie Project, where the main character is a man who doesn’t have any close relationships but is drawn out despite himself and finds friendship/love. And I do love that type of story!
Samuel is a smart professor with no friends and few social skills. One day, while at home alone, he hears a sound at his door. When he opens it, a cat dashes inside and hides, refusing to leave. (The author does a great job with the baffling frustrations and irresistible softness and purring that cats use to manipulate humans, and as Samuel knows nothing about cats, it’s pretty funny!).
When the cat dashes out a few days later, Samuel feels responsible for him and follows him upstairs to a neighbor’s. The neighbor asks Samuel to run an errand for him—and everything snowballs.
This is a warm, lighthearted, “feel good” kind of read—it literally made me happy when I was reading. Full of charm, it made me wish that there were more books by Fracesc Miralles available (perhaps there are more in Spain that will be translated soon? I can hope!)
I recommend this for anyone who liked A Man Called Ove or the others I listed above, or who simply wants a well-written and enjoyable book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy it!
Don't hesitate to buy it! It's not about cats at all really as the cover may suggest! It's a lovely, easy to read, funny tale about how important the little things are in life! I read it in a couple of days - I loved this book.

A gorgeous captivating story; you will not be disappointed.
I passed this on to my mum for her recent holiday and she devoured it and loved every page, she then passed it on to my dad to read who equally enjoyed it. So much so he passed on my copy and has since bought 2 more copies for presents.

I bought this book as it was recommended to me by Amazon - I fell into the trap and bought it - BUT I LOVE IT! A gentle story which is beautiful and simple. I will definitely be re-reading it in the future and have already bought another copy for a friend - I'm not sharing mine!
