Sweet Dreams: A Tucker PI novel Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 88 ratings

Kensei Tucker is a survivor. Ten years ago, she and four other college students were abducted and tortured by a serial killer who went by the name ‘Nightmare’. Kensei was the only survivor of this terrifying ordeal – saved by a grizzled homicide detective named Henry Sloane.

Fast forward and Kensei has moved on with her life. She’s made a home in the sleepy seaside town of Hawkins Landing, where she works as a private investigator at Henry’s agency, and life is good … until her phone rings.

It seems that Nightmare is back and has abducted five new girls. This should be impossible because Nightmare is dead … almost a decade ago, Henry Sloane emptied an entire clip into his chest.

Mac Jacobs works in Intelligence with the NYPD, and his sister, Emily, is one of Nightmare’s new victims. Benched from the case, Mac can think of only one way to find Emily, and this leads him straight to the door of Nightmare’s only survivor.

Will Kensei and Mac outwit an insane killer before it’s too late?

Or will Nightmare finally get what he’s always dreamed of … Kensei Tucker?

Sweet Dreams - A Tucker PI Novel - T J Spade

A new series from TJ Spade and another reason to be totally smitten with her work.

Sweet Dreams is another in the thriller, mystery, romance style of her previous series The Everett Files and totally absorbing from cover to cover.

Kensington Tucker is the only survivor of a brutal abduction, being rescued by Henry, the father figure cop, hell bent on capturing Nightmare - Serial killer with a penchant for sick and twisted torture of his victims.

Fast forward ten years and Kensei has established her self in a homely coastal town, working alongside Henry in the PI business.
Life for Kensei has returned to some semblance of normalcy until she's contacted by the Police about a new spate of abductions with eerily familiar signs to her own.

Add into the mix of murder, mystery and the unexplained return of Nightmare.... a seriously hot cop named Mac and his bromance partner in policing and you've got one gripping story.

Totally enthralling reading and a brilliantly contorted story with so much more to come from this fabulous author. T J Spade can manipulate your imagination with her words and I'm seriously hooked on this new series. Bring on some more. PLEASE!!

I have easily read hundreds of books; many blurring together and some I struggle to read but a book from T.J. Spade is not one of these books! They are amazing pieces that I will read over and over appreciating the raw talent that she possess. I fell in love with Tjs writing style in her The Everett files series; fast paced but flowed well, always leaves you guessing and absorbed to the very last page. Her new book sweet dreams is no exception and is an amazing book again filled with pace, adrenaline and pure talent! I fell in love with the story lines of sweet dreams along with the characters; I was impressed again as I was left guessing as to whom the bad guy could be and wasn't at all who I thought. I could not recommend her books more; there will be no regret when reading this book I promise!

This is the first book by T.J. Spade that I've read. It was a fast paced and enjoyable mystery. I liked the main characters and the small town setting. Looking forward to the next installment so I can see what the future holds for Kensei and Mac.

This book is truly terrifying.

Nightmare is the ultimate serial killer! His methods and wicked and horrible and truly mind boggling how someone can enjoy this.

Kensei has balls of steel! As the only woman, only person to ever survive Nightmare's games she's resilient and tough, where I'd be cowering in the shadows screaming for my mummy. So when, 10 years after Nightmare is killed, a copy cat starts taking young woman again, Kensei stands up, checks her gun and goes after him.

Mac's sister is one of Nightmare's new victims - the problem Mac's got is trying to reconcile working and falling for Kensei and focusing on saving his sister, the only family he has left.

This book is truly terrifying but equally brilliant. Definitely one I won't be forgetting in a hurry. And I'll be checking the lock on my door each night!

I was so excited to read this book as the blurb had me hooked. TJ Spade did not let me down. Sweet Dreams is a crime, thriller and romance novel that defiantly kept me on edge the whole time. It was one of those books you read in one go that you just can’t put it down.
Kensei Tucker is the only survivor of a terrifying abduction. Henry was the man inline that saved Kensei, which has become a father figure as such. The nightmare is the bad guy who psychologically tortures his victims. Then you have Will and Mac the police investigators who have great banter and loyalty to one another. Of course then you have building romance between Mac and Kensei.
This is the first book I’ve read from this author and I have loved every word of this novel and can’t wait to check out her other books.

So I just heard about this author and I love mystery books so I gave it a try. I loved it. Can’t wait for the next one. Just enough romance to keep me interested and lots of suspense. I will say, I figured out who the nightmare was right off the bat, but I kept reading to make sure I was correct. I loved it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Hit for T.J. Spade
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 7, 2017
This is the start of new series from T.J. Spade and it’s one I hope to see run & run. The heroine Kensei is the sole survivor of a sadistic serial killer called Nightmare who kidnapped his victims then drugged and tormented them into killing themselves. She has managed to put her life back together and is now working as a P.I. in partnership with Henry Sloan, the ex-cop who saved her life in the small coastal resort of Hawkings Landing. Life is good for Kensei until news comes through that five college girls have gone missing including the younger sister of New York detective Mac Jacobs. Nightmare is back but how can that be when 10 years ago Henry shot him dead.

This book has everything. Thrills, suspense, romance, bromance – personally one of the highlights of this book was the double act of Mac & his partner Will McCarthy. I loved the interaction between them. The plot moves at a fast pace and doesn’t let up for a second. All the characters are described so vividly that I was able to picture them in my head. With a twist in the tail that you will never see coming this book – I know I didn’t – this book will definitely be on my top 10 list for 2017. I look forward to reading more in the Tucker P.I. series as this is an author who just keeps getting better with each new release and I can’t wait to read what her imagination comes up with next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow what a on the edge of your seat read.

I have only just recently discovered TJ Spade and I am extremely grateful I did.

This book was filled with angst, mystery, twists, turns and love. Normally I can pick out who the bad guy is a mile away, but TJ kept me on the edge of my seat until almost the end.

Mac has found out his sister was kidnapped by the serial killer dubbed "Nightmare" who kidnaps innocent women and slowly breaks them mentally until the point of death.

Kensei survived "Nightmare" 10 years ago after the police rescued her and killed him or so she thought.

The 2 must work together now to save Emily, all the while "Nightmare" is playing is own little game, watching everyone run around trying to catch, while trying to bring Kensei to finish the game.

I wish I could give it more stars

5.0 out of 5 stars Yet another fantastic read from T.J. Spade'
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 7, 2017
I went into reading Sweet Dreams with high expectations. I have read and love T.J. Spade's first series The Everett Files and knew as long as she kept up her amazing style of writing I was going to be in for a fantastic read. And as much as I adore The Everett Files, Kensie and Mac's story was even better (and I love Caleb and Makayla so much it's hard to say that!).
Kensie is the lone survivor of a serial killer known as Nightmare and in her rescue Nightmare is shot dead. 10 years later and Nightmare returns...only he can't have, can he? The MO is the same but how can it be? Mac's little sister is one of Nightmare's recent victims and he goes to Hawkins Landing, home of the only survivor of Nightmare to see what information he can glean from Kensie to help him find his sister.
I find that I can manage to guess the murderer in a lot of thrillers but T.J. Spade always manages to keep me guessing, with Sweet Dreams being no exception. I would guess my character (I guessed plenty of them) and give a reason it could be them, yet I was still surprised and gasped loudly when the reveal happened.
T.J. Spade has seriously done it again with Sweet Dreams and I can't wait to see what she has up her devilish sleeves for us next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spade because I absolutely love everything Spade does
Reviewed in Australia on June 6, 2017
I have been eagerly awaiting this new release from T.J. Spade because I absolutely love everything Spade does! And I was not disappointed. This is the first in a new series and the characters are just as detailed and likeable as all the others. I love the realism Spade manages in her mystery and I love her bad guys! This was mystery, suspense, crime, thriller and romance all in one. It's a tough combination but Spade pulls it off effortlessly. I highly recommend this amazing new release. I'm already going back in for a re-read and it's only release day.
